Well, sort of. Using a swingometer, Labour is currently on course to lose another 81 seats and hand the Tories a majority of 166. Which, when factoring in Sinn Fein never taking their seats rises to 170. D.U.P may also lend their votes in and this rises again to 190 or so.

Which is within "I'm Tony Blair, fuck you." Territory.

Reality is Labour may be whittled down to its absolute core which is around 150-160 seats or so. Typically "under 200" is seen as a fucking disaster for Labour.

See, May's political career and history is one of not so much crushing political opposition but rending them into fucking dust which is awesome and terrifying at the same time.

Because she's very much a traditional Prime Minister (not obsessed with the media cycle, little spin) the BBC has become bored and runs off to talk to Nicola Sturgeon every time so much as a gnat farts in the country because she's obsessed with media perception. This means relentless coverage for useless fucks like Sturgeon (Who's busy running Scotland through to the core of the earth) or Tim "Mummy I want a political party too!" Farron.

You'd kind of get a bit bored of it two when it's those gormless fucks on TV all the time, god knows the public's sick of seeing them.

So May's now going for the full and final pass to shut them all up once and for all, mostly because Corbyn, Farron and Sturgeon have all used the whiny "Look at me, look at me, the public didn't know." approach which is... kind of insulting to core voters on each side of the debate (the people most likely to vote).

She wins, wins big? Then they become irrelevant politically no matter what mandate they might whine about.

Spot on with everything. May and the Tories will win because if anybody else does, Brexit'll likely be fucked up to the point that Britain will become a massive laughingstock.

It's the disadvantage of living on an island, we have no opportunities to stir up controversy by discussing a hearty bit of wall building.

Or ranting about mexicans

Anyone who seriously believes the tories are a threat to their lives in 2017 is living in a state of irrational hysteria.
People are literally killing themselves because of DWP overhauls that inflict poverty on the poor. People who cannot afford food are being directed to foodbanks. People with an extra room get punished for it regardless of circumstances. Those with the least are being punished by the state. This is by design.

I think you might be projecting something here.
Yes, I'm projecting that Davidson is aware that her party is skirting the law.

mathematically the snp cannot really do significantly better than 2015. It would only be a gamble if the tories had something to lose.
To clarify, what I mean to say is that it's a gamble to make this a "Unionist against Independence" election. If they say "A vote for us is a vote against another indyref", by default that means a vote for the SNP is a vote in favour of another indyref. If they take that strategy and don't completely dethrone the SNP, that allows the SNP to say "Well by your definition this gives us a mandate". That's what the risk is.

Okay. Let's take these one at a time, bearing in mind that I spent 4.5 years working in legal aid in East London back in 2009-14, and did an awful lot of housing / L&T / social welfare work.

Firstly, the idea that people are killing themselves through poverty and hopelessness is nothing new. It just gets reported more in recent years because OMG CUTS REEEEEE. It also sells newspapers. Remember, if it bleeds, it leads.

Secondly, food banks are also nothing new.

Thirdly, your assessment of the so-called "bedroom tax" as being people with an extra room being punished for it regardless of circumstance is wrong, fractally. If you are in private rented accommodation, owner occupied accommodation, social housing, or whatever, there is no penalty to you for having spare bedrooms. There's just the rent / mortgage, and the rent is the rent. So long as that gets paid, you're fine.

The "bedroom tax" is where people on housing benefit in social housing have their benefit reduced by a given proportion if they have a property that is too large for them and their family. That is, they only get paid housing benefit to cover a size of property that they would genuinely need. This has been the case in the private sector for donkeys' years. The "bedroom tax" simply brought the social rented sector in line with that and calling it a "bedroom tax" is simply demagoguery because it's not a tax. There is an issue with an insufficiently of social housing especially in the major cities but frankly this is part of a larger general housing crisis in same. It is fair to say that more housing across all affordability levels should have been built but we are where we are. I get the impression that there is housing stock out there in local authority portfolio - I know for a fact taht several London councils have a number of "hard to let" properties and estates that even people on the breadlines reject for various reasons but councils won't try to regenerate those areas because that requires effort and not paying themselves huge fuck-off salaries and gold plated pensions.

Fourthly, to say that the state is deliberately trying to literally murder the poor is conspiratardery of the highest order. I honestly do not believe that George Osborne and his mates sat down on getting into office in 2010 and, rubbing their hands together, decided to make a plan to specifically dispense with poor people.

I do believe that George was doing everything he could to try and fix the economy, he was certainly not an evil mastermind, that would be giving him too much credit.

Plus, without George Osborne, we'd never have had this glorious bit of banter from the Olympic Stadium.

Everyone loves to boo a politician and he was game, so lol.

Re unionists against indyref.

I'll float a theory here: the last couple rounds of Scottish election results are showing a distinct trend to "vote Tory/unionist/Proddie/lower middle class/upper working class" versus "vote SNP/pro-indy/Catholic/soft left/middle class/upper middle class".

The Tories have positioned themselves as THE party of the union in Scotland under Ruth, and 'thuhh yooniun' is very important to a particular section of the Scottish voting public. Those of them that I know are all absolutely convinced that Scotland is controlled by Catholics and that independence is a ploy to isolate and ghettoise the Protestant community in Scotland. They all vote Tory because they perceive that Labour are not sufficiently anti-independence.

The utter collapse of the Scottish LibDems and Scottish Labour as functioning political parties has herded everyone I know who I would describe as centrist, let alone soft left, into the SNP voting bloc more or less regardless of their views on independence because, well, who the fuck else are centrists going to vote for? Ruth's Tories are not centrist as Scottish politics, traditionally always somewhat left of Westminster, understands it.

God knows what reaction there will be to indyref2.

This popped up and sums up why Corbin should not be allowed near anything approaching the level of Tea Boy let alone PM -
corbin.jpg

He cosies himself up to some of the most ass backwards people in the world, people who go out of their way to make sure that you know they hate you and you're way of life and expect's you to be fine with that, it's why outside of the SJW infested Momentum supporters He doesn't seem to realise that the population at large not just his backbenchers despise him for being the party head.

Bit like how the cartoonists are taking the piss out of Diane Abbots car crash interviews as well.

Also I think I will tune into The One Show just to see what the heck Mr and Mrs May will talk about, it's legit rare to see Phillip doing public stuff...

Tina Daheley

Doesn't she read the news on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw?

For fuck's sake, just because the average person in that age group is thick as pigshit doesn't mean you have to dumb it down because its de yoof.

Considering how the election is so far, any hardball questions will be met with 'Strong and Stable Leadership' and then they'll probably talk about hiking for about half an hour.

It happens to every politician as their life goes on, and it can be embarrassing. But, thanks to the Conservative Party, there is hope.

With new MayAgra, you too can keep the deleterious effects of legislative impotence at bay. MayAgra. Helping you stay strong and stable.

(Oh come on, you were all thinking this too.)

Cat impersonator George Galloway is standing in Gorton apparently. This will be fun!

Can the Monster Raving Loony party even compete with Monsieur Zen?:
Jeremy Corbyn is enjoying his first general election as Labour leader, and he wants to make something very clear: He intends to remain in the job, even if he isn't victorious in next month's vote.

"I was elected leader of this party and I’ll stay leader of this party," Corbyn told BuzzFeed News, taking a few minutes out from campaigning in the Warwickshire town of Leamington Spa.

No matter what happens on 8 June, he said, he would be "carrying on". And he insisted that the constant criticism and poor poll ratings were not getting to him. "Monsieur Zen is fine," he said.
