Even if I don't like everything he's written, part of why I like and respect PKD is that he was a consumate, professional writer. He would take an idea and explore it in one direction, then do another story exploring that idea in the complete opposite direction.PKD had alot of stories that had some great rightist undertones like 'Null-O' and 'Pre-Persons', so while trying to argue Dick had any ideological consistency beyond hard drug use is a fool's errand, but I still really doubt they could ever shoehorn in a trans allegory in any reading.
His ideological consistency was "what does the story demand?" And would for a dozen more writers who practice such.
