Be nice to the Tropers, they read nothing more complex than Harry Potter so when told to read a different book they need something more simple.
No wonder Harry Potter page is so complicated in TV Tropes' page

You expect high literature to use such a trope?
Ok, that’s fair. But it’s pretty reflective. Most Literature tabs on the site seem to be 80% YA novels.

A couple more dumb Nightmare Fuel entries, this time from the Shantae series. For those who have never played, it is a cute cartoony platformer with a bit of slightly lewd humor, similar to Ducktales or something. Completely non-threatening.

Also, I saw this on a page and was surprised it was allowed to stay up.

Ah, yes, behold the most horrifying thing in the world: the dreaded day/night cycle!

And this is the woman they find “terrifying in her own right”:

If you’re scared of a woman that looks like this, I have no words to describe how pathetic you are.

Here's an example, they still hate colonialism in fiction whereas it died off IRL after the second World War.

Seriously, just look at this shit.
Significantly after the second world war. Portugal was bankrupting itself in a futile struggle against communists in Africa until the 1970s. That said I don't think boomers of the age who would remember that use the site, aside from Fast Eddie himself.

Thinking about the literature discussion from earlier, I went to check out one of my favorite authors when I was a preteen, and found that the only works of his that they have on the site are books that have had movies made about them. Though, admittedly, Navarone, Where Eagles Dare and Ice Station Zebra are his 3 most important books anyway.

And yes, I guess that I could go fix it myself, but fuck doing free work for them.

I have a strong suspicion that TV Tropes is going to somehow make The Whitest Kids U’ Know into some “alt-right” stereotype and a bunch of their users are seriously going to deconstruct their humor as a gateway to the “alt-right”.

Without realizing that it’s just a comedy sketch show.

They'd already be strawmaning every media they see as "alt-right propaganda." Check the forum if you want to see what I'm legit talkin' about.

Nightmare Fuel: "The first game has a day/night cycle. At night, enemies are a *lot* more dangerous and have dark palette swaps to reflect this, and the music changes to a frantic tune."
Damn I imagine that guy has nightmares about playing Castlevania II and seeing the "WHAT A HORRIBLE NIGHT TO HAVE A CURSE" message pop up if that's his reaction to a fucking basic day/night cycle in a video game.
Is there any TV Tropes category that comes even close to rivaling the autism contained in Nightmare Fuel? I know there's examples of the other categories but I think Nightmare Fuel is the most consistent in that every single time it's some sperg freaking out over 20 different examples of some mundane/inoffensive detail that made him shit his pants.

I think even worse than the clearly not actually scary entries are the ones that either describe things that are more existential (stuff they tend to call “Fridge Horror”) - like the one about how the guy in Dark Souls dies by crumpling into a defeated posture and how that shows him slowly losing himself and hollowing - or the ones where it’s about a mechanic, like “you died to the Asylum Demon, and then you realize you’re going to have to actually fight him for real!”

it reminds me of how the guy from Flop House described toture porn films as “there’s a difference between me being SCARED of something and having something I would REALLY LIKE TO NOT HAPPEN to me.”
