the site is incredibly stuffy and has very much turned popular culture into a wankfest about how many tropes you can point out in a work.
Adding wicks is the name of the game. I don't begrudge them for that.

The problem is that TVT is autism-heavy. They tend to think and speak in highly robotic ways.

The site mission states that they "are not looking for dull or uninteresting entries", but every editor sounds alike. It's a site with no flavor, no kick, no context for why those tropes are being used. Add to that the fact that sarcasm and humor are verboten ("natter").

The other problem is that TVT is not interested in growing their userbase. They've grown too insular.
Now that you've drawn attention to it, they're probably gonna delete it and ban the user who wrote it
Redact it, substitute it with "the banana scene". So anyone who hasn't seen the movie twice won't have the faintest idea what it refers to.

It's a site with no flavor, no kick, no context for why those tropes are being used. And the fact that sarcasm and humor are verboten ("natter") has caused a pedantic slant. The mods are up-front about this. "Wordpress is that way" is the go-to answer.

You hit the nail on the head there. I'd imagine a lot of people want to have just a little bit of fun with the site, but their strict rules make that really difficult. All it does is essentially turn them into another version of Wikipedia: cold, humorless and mechanical.

Relatedly, I tried adding Nostalgia Critic's The Wall "review" to their "So Bad, It's Horrible" page a while back and they removed it on the grounds that there was the Dethroning Moments of Suck page I could complain about it on. Recently, I re-added it to the page with the reasoning that it barely qualifies as a review and is more of a cheap-ass parody with maybe five seconds of actual insight on the movie itself - insight that didn't even feel like a genuine summary. Today I found out my editing privileges' were suspended because I started an edit war...even though it took me a few months to maybe a year to revert that deletion. And that was for re-adding the review just because I had thought it belonged there on that page. They didn't even give me any warning; I decide to edit an article and I find out that my editing privileges got eighty-sixed without any sort of notification.

I've seen English teachers literally do exactly that when some kid asked them "can I go to the bathroom?" I wanted to see the kid piss on them.
I even had an Earth Science teacher in high school who I remember would do this constantly. And for what purpose? Are some teachers so damn entitled that they think using "can I" instead of "may I" qualifies as rudeness?

SBIH is one of those namespaces that act as containment and have no real purpose. Every example is torn into its tiniest morsels beyond any semblance of meaning. Mainly they serve to pimp Channel Awesome "reviews" from five years ago. Our site rules prohibit us explaining why this is Horrible so we'll just let Doug or Linkara do it for us.

The other half are current tropers

I miss the Fan Fic SBIH page because it wasn't filled with links to Tropers' favorite Internet critics like the rest of SBIH.

Wikipedia is cold and mechanical because it's an encyclopedia clearly apeing the style of Britannica and other paper encyclopedias. TV Tropes tries to be "a buttload more informal" or whatever but behind all the troperspeak it's just as cold and mechanical but even worse because the machine is pretending that it's the opposite.
Don't mind me, I certainly didn't find anything that's cringe-worthy from the newest addition to the asylum.
Didn't n00l used to have a "do not use the username you use on other sites" warning in the sign-up screen? Brandon might not have gotten his page archived for all time if Null still did.

Okay, I get calling out Holle's grammar in in the ban appeal, but really? The "can" vs "may" card? I don't even think I've had actual English teachers pull that one ironically, at least not in conversation. Even being really anal about the meanings, I feel like "do I have the ability to get editing privileges back" is a valid question to ask, especially since it depends entirely on whether the mods feel like following their own rules or not.
Doesn't even make sense in an anal retentive way either. "Can" and "May" are, in fact, interchangeable:

Unless the "awkward" part is that Holle didnt address their betters with the proper respect. In which case I recommend respectfully rebutting with a Goatse. Then again that page is a wall of losers promising to be good little boys and girls if only their daddies forgive them. Pathetic.

That's why the Cybersecurity 101 thread exists.
And Null ran that security checkup with the notifications function.

Yes, but let the retards be retards. I would have found it, anyways if I actually got bored enough to read their user pages.
You should have, surely you would want to read a "slightly darker retelling" of the original Digimon Adventure, right? Made because Brian Cole got Brandon Cash back into Digimon and his high school friend Robert Willis liked it too.

Yeah, I really should go through the user pages from the edit-banned thread. Annnnnd Fighteer is pulling the "this isn't a public space" card. Granted, that guy deserved it.

And remember BMX XXX?

They never made a page for it for obvious reasons and they don't want to make fun of it.

Fighteer has painted himself into a corner where he's surrounded himself with easily-cowed children who do as they're told. But he can't trust anyone else to handle the screening process. So it's mostly just him, dropping the hammer in the Suspension thread, a job he clearly hates. He admits that he's a "hardass" and that many editors would prefer that he not handle all of the cases.

Fighteer resents having to be there, and he thinks he's doing you a favor by granting you a sliver of his time.

Fighteer resents having to be there
As much as he resents being the (sole) overseer of the Edit Banned thread, I'd have to say that his reasons for banning people just come off as pathetic and have a constant "holier-than-thou" vibe. I don't necessarily think he resents it all that much.

I'd even go as far as to say he wants to ban more people, like he's just waiting to pounce on rule breakers.
He's the textbook example of what happens when you let a moderator go on a power-trip.

He's a barely-closeted autist himself. Extremely rigid in his beliefs and thinking. He should be posting on some engineering forum; not managing a community of weebs.

As an aside, it seems Fighteer has blacklisted common VPN ranges. Very persistent, this one.

Probably because anyone who uses an VPN is a ban-evading troll as opposed to thinking that the site doesn't suffer an(other) breakdown and manages to leaks everyone's IP addresses.

And speaking of trolling, remember how they locked the 4chan page because they thought they would raid.them?
