Probably because anyone who uses an VPN is a ban-evading troll as opposed to thinking that the site doesn't suffer an(other) breakdown and manages to leaks everyone's IP addresses.
There are a boatload of stories about people trying to sign up (although why they'd subject themselves to TV Tropes' level of torture, I have no idea) and their accounts were denied for no apparent reason.
Are they really that paranoid about ban evaders? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. *sigh*

I'm sorry, but, I'm sure this is something of a nitpick, but have you guys noticed that there's been a degradation in spelling and grammar lately?

In a single page, I've seen more typographical errors than an early draft of a college term paper.

I mean, it's never had machine precision in terms of maintaining stellar grammar, but have they seriously started to neglect it this much?

Well, they've been banning people for it...At least the ones who were reported via ATT.

True, but they'll suspend you for "serial tweaking" or replacing one synonym for another, because it makes it "harder to browse" edit histories. Heads I win, tails you lose.

gross.

You should have, surely you would want to read a "slightly darker retelling" of the original Digimon Adventure, right? Made because Brian Cole got Brandon Cash back into Digimon and his high school friend Robert Willis liked it too.

Eh, I won't hold criticism against you. You can make fun of it for shits and giggles, riff on it, I don't care. Can't say I wouldn't deserve it.

In other news, you can't be bothered to read the giant message, that's on the first page of the edit banned thread.

Here, we have a strict policy about edit wars. If you add something, someone changes or removes it, and you change it back, you're edit warring. If someone changes something, you revert it, and they change it again, they are edit warring. The third edit is the threshold. Edit warring is grounds for suspension for all parties involved, regardless of whether it is intentional or not.
Ok, what the fuck?

Pretty much. Though my focus has been more on trying to figure out how to reverse the ban than the message so that one's on me.

That confused me too. How the hell is it the other person's fault if one guy's the offender?

For making more work for the mod team.

Cleaning up after people cuts into their time of eating hot pockets.
Lazy bastards. If they don't want to moderate then why the flying fuck are they moderators? Moderation takes a lot more effort to maintain and balance; people have to do the job of keeping others in check while not abusing their power and coming off like a power-mad asshole. You don't do enough of the former, you get people vandalizing everything and turning your website into a hollowed-out corpse. You do too much of the latter, people will start to hate you and - if the administration is smart enough - will run the risk of getting canned because of their behavior.

Take it easy, dude. There's only eight of them and they have thousands of pages to curate, and a fully functional forum!

Oh, and the admins are only there to collect the ad revenue will occasionally updating the site.

They do want to moderate. The reason why they're lazy is because it's far easier to banhammer someone for breaking a rule than warn them with a PM.

According to old forum posts, they didn't have a suspension policy in the days of yore and the mods used to PM someone when they did something wrong. They were pissed off because this was costing them precious moderation time, so Eddie built the suspension system and now they go on a shoot-first-ask-questions-later basis.

Have you seen Fighteer's posts? He is the epitome of power abuse and his condescending holier-than-thou attitude perfectly defines "power-mad asshole."

You do too much of the latter, people will start to hate you and - if the administration is smart enough - will run the risk of getting canned because of their behavior.
Wishful thinking. Fighteer is never going to get fired because he's the oldest on the staff (since August 2010 and the days of Eddie), and he does communicate with the admins from time to time. People hate him for sure, but the chance of him getting canned is virtually nil, especially since the admins (who are the only ones who can do something) are sitting on their asses and doing nothing.
