Yeah, one would think there were a substantial number of Supernatural fics out there fitting that trope. (I dunno, I'm not going to check.)
Neither would I, but back when Topless Robot site was a thing, one of their awfull fanfic reviews was something that reimagined its source this way.Yeah, one would think there were a substantial number of Supernatural fics out there fitting that trope. (I dunno, I'm not going to check.)
They really need to go on a head-chopping mission w.r.t. these entries.I need a bloody drink
I liked TP. I archived a few articles. (The Legend of Chun-Li and Clone Saga reviews are a laugh riot.)Oh man topless robot.... Remember when people on the internet used to be fun?
Oh it doesn't just seem like it.It makes it seem like TVT is full of triggered little snowflakes who label everything as problematic.
I always hate it when people shit on Lovecraft's work. The man was a great author, yes he was racist but guess what so was alot of people in the 1920s. If Lovecraft was alive today he most likely wouldn't have been a racist. There was a pretty sad attempt by Big Finish to cancel Lovecraft a few months back. Colin Baker tells Lovecraft to his face that he's the last historical figure the Doctor ever wanted to meet. A stunning non sequitur. Even ignoring the TV show, the Big Finish Doctor has faced Nazis, Davros, Omega, and (yes) Lovecraftian gods bent on eradicating all humans in the worst way possible, but this scribbler is too much even for him.
It's like being arrested on a variety of charges, so that the prosecutor can go after everything in hopes that something will stick.Okay, I get calling out Holle's grammar in in the ban appeal, but really? The "can" vs "may" card? I don't even think I've had actual English teachers pull that one ironically, at least not in conversation. Even being really anal about the meanings, I feel like "do I have the ability to get editing privileges back" is a valid question to ask, especially since it depends entirely on whether the mods feel like following their own rules or not.
I've seen English teachers literally do exactly that when some kid asked them "can I go to the bathroom?" I wanted to see the kid piss on them.Okay, I get calling out Holle's grammar in in the ban appeal, but really? The "can" vs "may" card? That entire page screams "we're washing our hands"I don't think that's what the fidget spinner craze was about...View attachment 2016323
If you're worried about being a lolcow, then you're already on your way to avoid becoming one.
How much is it gonna piss people off if I admit that I'm a part of the community of TV Tropes? I've been a part of it for a little over a decade now and I never really interacted with people on there...unless my editing privileges get suspended for one reason or another.
I'm usually on it because it's nice to learn about other series through it and what makes a series tick but I won't disagree that the site is incredibly stuffy and has very much turned popular culture into a wankfest about how many tropes you can point out in a work. And looking at this article...man... I don't always see this stuff roiling beneath the surface but when it does crop up, I just have to roll my eyes because it's another example of communities being infected by idiots.
I always feel ashamed of being a part of a community or a fan of one of the lolcows featured on the Farms, mostly because I'm worried it makes me a lolcow by association. I know I probably shouldn't quite so worried about that, but it doesn't stop me from being concerned.
