I don't get it, either. You need a non-disposable email to join, and those screen for minors. So who GAF?

Despite its size, TVT is rinky dink at its core. It's probably a holdover from the Eddie days.

I prefer a static site to one riddled with bloatware. But as the CTC debacle showed, there's such a thing as being too resistant to change.

It's technically against the rules, but the mods are only around to outlaw stuff as opposed to actually trying to fix the wiki. It looks like that they just let the community vote for how to deal with controversial content, which usually results with it getting deleted if it's right-leaning.


And someone might be permanently banned for not improving their English. Keep in mind that they're already suspended from the wiki.
 
I believe TVT mods are retarded and treat people like shit but I also believe there is something sinister about Mr. Katsuro which has yet to reveal itself. He only preys on the weak.

Well, he isn't from America, going by the ATT thread that I linked, earlier. What's weird is that being the top medical advisor for several presidents should make one an expert...Except that TVT doesn't seems to agree with that worldview.

Back in the early days when I was editing the wiki on Ben 10 at around 2013, I happened to catch an entire section in Kevin's page dedicated towards shipping hints between him and Ben. I got mad, basically left a warning at how unprofessional and idiotic it was, and deleted it. Never happened again, or I hoped nobody else tried after I stopped bothering.

That was one time, but it left an impression on me at how exceptionally retarded it could get.
 
I don't think you guys have any idea how shitty TV Tropes's code really was. And I got this information from the admins themselves through forum threads. When even the programmers admit the code is shit, the code is shit.

I've linked to a screenshot of a forum thread where itcdr/Chris, one of the site's admins, points out that every single forum thread is its own TABLE. That's 75,000 tables. No wonder stuff kept fucking up.

I'm honestly amazed the admins got the site running without something committing suicide. If Eddie's code was that shitty, that explains the constant security holes that he had to patch.

The admins fixed the giant hole in the sinking ship that is TV Tropes in April 2016, but I have to wonder what the hell Eddie was thinking when programming... whatever it was. Who even knows?

Ever since the site had to cut back on maintenance (archive link) following the 'rona, there is a ton of stuff that's still broken, poorly maintained, or just outright shit. (archive)

I guess that's what happens when you start running a site based off of PmWiki and make zero effort to update anything whatsoever as you move on.

Just be like Eddie! Who cares about the future when you can kludge everything and leave behind a pile of shit for the new admins to clean up?
