I just love how there upset that people are making fun of them. Well don't make threads about your personal lives and shit like this won't happen.
Or don’t trust a site like TV Tropes where they are deconstructing the likes of TV motifs as an excuse to personalize political agendas onto fictional characters intended for children.

And this is one of the reasons right here, why I think most media marketed to little kids, have such toxic fandoms, even more so than media marketed at adults.

Ironically enough, from the pre-internet era to the web 1.0 era, the adult media fandoms were worse than kiddie media fandoms. What the hell happened here?

Yikes, I'm not even to the belly of the beast yet, and the aroma of cringe is overpowering.

There isn't much wrong with deconstructing something. The problem arises when you overdo it. Life isn't always about tearing it apart.

how is lily singled out as an "opposite" of Lisa. they don't play off one another in that way. the whole family are all nowhere near Lisa's IQ and if anything Leni is the polar opposite of lisa.

also im pretty sure this trope REQUIRES the two characters to be on screen together for one to act as a foil.

I'm actually not banned on TV tropes I just don't use my account
That's a sentiment I can concur with. I used to be more actively invested in TVT, but I found that the shit they were doing was getting more and more ridiculous, so I left. It's not exactly surprising that a thread for talking about a site's dirty laundry would include people that left out of disgust.

That's a big problem with modern media. The idea of enjoying something for what it is has become increasingly uncommon, and in its stead has been a desire to destroy what is sacred because it is sacred. Deconstruction is not always a bad thing, but it should usually also be accompanied by reconstruction to remind people why those ideas resonate as they do. The modern "artist" believes that it is more important to "subvert expectations" than make art that can succeed on its own standing, and this mentality has seeped down to critics and some consumers as well.

This is nothing compared to the theory that half or most of the Loud siblings are trans.

Yeah, got permabanned for proposing a trope in the workshop, no editing shit or whatsoever. I doubt those people even know how to run the site fairly without exposing themselves as the fucking retards they are. Sad things is that Tv Tropes as a site ain't bad, it's just run by idiots.
OMG! YOU'RE JUST SALTY FOR BEING BANNED! GET REKT, YOU ALT RIGHT INCEL! - Fighteer

People don't get that subverting expectations ain't always innovative or good when it pisses of the audience. Tlou2 is an example of it.

It's why villains gets it bad these days when they don't have a tragic backstory. To people it automatically means they're one dimensionlly evil nevermind the fact not every bad person IRL has a shitty childhood.

Part of the reason for that could be is that they want something to put the blame on for all of society's ills. Not understanding that human nature is far more complex than that, and someone doesn't always have a good reason to be a piece of shit.

In a way, it would reflect a lot of how they see themselves.

One thing that's really odd about this site is that it's mostly horribly autistic but not entirely. The TV Tropes article on the Second Sino-Japanese War is actually almost entirely accurate and a decent summary of the war for casual readers. Not a single weeb meme there either, despite the subject matter.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/UsefulNotes/SecondSinoJapaneseWar

I was expecting something like "then Jiang Jieshi went go-karting with Bowser in a moment of fridge brilliance", but it's surprisingly respectable. I also remember seeing a relatively decent article on the downfall of the Chinese Empire.

I can't stand trope jargon anymore. It's like clubhouse speak that you forget into adulthood, but along comes your bumfuck of a "friend" who still lives in a dilapidated shack that his parents left him with after they committed suicide in order to escape the crippling responsibility of having failed in raising their sped of a son, who speaks in nothing but tropes that you actually begin to wonder how he even orders food, let alone have an actual conversation that doesn't earn him a bullet to his kneecaps.

It's even more egregious when I check the reviews in fanfiction.net and cringe upon spotting one to a few.
