They've also gotten in slapfights with Youtubers covering lost media, and the uber-autistic among the community have harassed people for info on kids shows.
I am most likely misremembering, but I do seem to recall blameitonjorge or another big time lost-media-centric personality making indirect reference to those sort of entities you brought up. That the LMW discord feels the need to harass others outside their cultish server is of no surprise; they were overflowing with terminal unwarranted self-importance last February or so over their boner for the Sonic live-action flick, and using that as an excuse to belite the entire userbase with pointless "question of the day" pings and elitist blowharding.

I believe it was relating to their "new" Youtube golden boy after they kicked out the old one I mentioned before for some drama. LSuperSonicQ made some video about, I believe, "The Backyardigans" and the community around the forums and server was stupid enough to actually track down and harass people even tangentially related to the production of the show. This lead to L canning the video and only mentioning it again as an aside about the community's autism around it.

You worshipped the State.
The easiest way to differentiate between religion and a secular ideology so you don't get confused is the simplest. If your ideology has a supernatural component(demons, fairies, gods, devils, whatevers) then its a religion. If your ideology has no such component even if it resembles a religion when it comes to devotion then its secular.Religion is often used to describe various belief systems to the point it can get confusing as to what is and isn't one. But all recognised religions have one thing in common. The belief in some supernatural the belief in another world beyond our own populated by something that allegedly goes beyond science. Secular ideologies don't have that component so no matter how devoted someone might be to a secular ideology or what that ideology demands from its followers its not a religion its something else. The moment a secular ideology starts explicitly referring to the supernatural in some form it stops being secular. You could probably just use the generic term 'belief system' to be all encompassing and easier than religion and you would include everything in it.

Atheism was the official religious stance of the Soviet sphere countries and there were active campaigns to suppress religion. So even if the USSR wasn't imposing its religion per se, it was imposing its religious policies. (Even though WW2 saw reapproachement between the government and the Russian Orthodox Church and the Soviet state later supported or maybe instigated the efforts by the Patriarch of Moscow to supplant the Ecumenical Patriarch as the head of Orthodox churches.)
IIRC, only Albania under Enver Hoxha actually banned religion outright. In the rest of the communist world, religious institutions were allowed to operate but were subject to heavy government control and harassment.
