im more interested in that it seems this is the only trope article where they had to be given permission by the artist to use their image for this article.
Pretty sure I saw others...
Edit: here's one.

Edit 2 (to not double post): Hey look, they mention David Reimer in a trope! Considering the place, I find that a bit weird...

It's not an uncommon practice to secure author permission on trope sites for certain images.

Usually, wikis of that nature prefer to use "fair use" images. When that is not possible, they will try to secure limited permission to use an image to illustrate something under specific conditions, such as it can only be used on certain pages for certain reasons.

Take a wild guess as to what the TV Tropes community thinks of the recent "protests":

.
Unsurprisingly, the resident cops are blaming the alt-right and white supremacists. Everyone else is defending the protesters while mildly shitting on the pigs...And that's more or less it, aside from some mourning here and there.

Those damn black white supremacists.

Why do they have a ho yay page on LITTLEST PET SHOP!?

Autism and deviancy. I can understand making one for a series for people older than children with all sorts of gay subtext, but if you are looking at kids cartoons for gay shipping, you need some serious help.

Why do they have a ho yay page on LITTLEST PET SHOP!?

I can count the cartoons that DON'T have one on one hand

I'd be really interested in essays on the West's growing regard for any intimacy as sexually motivated.
The degeneracy doesn't exactly seem to just be the Troper's perception, this is modern television after all.

Speaking of which, has anyone noted the exact wording of Bestiality Is Depraved is the same as tropes for "incorrect" or at least problematic stereotypes?
This did not go over my head even as a preteen.

Well, there goes my childhood. From what I remember watching of that series, the lizard and mongoose were friends, and no romantic interactions between any of the main characters (say for one episode, but that was hetero). I blame Steven Universe for all that degeneracy.

I do admit one possibility. The cop that killed Floyd may have intentionally acted like that hoping to cause unrest.I watched the video and one thing that seemed strange was how he didn't seem even midly bothered by getting recorded.Like he was intentionally playing up the stereotype of 'the racist cop'.Again its pure speculation but if that cop was a genuine white supremacist he might have been banking on getting recorded and causing riots.Again its a strech but its not impossible.Or he may have found a guy he really wanted to get rid of and that's it.

Two male character being nice and genuinely friendly towards each other now means they want to bang their brains out. How ironic for all their moralization and censorship they end up being just as horny and deviant as the people they oppose.

No tvtropes, a self sacrifice suicide does not make it awesome, it's fucked up.

A man realized that all he does is fuck things up for people and decided to off himself... How cool is that!?
The amusing part is that Seven Pounds also tried to portray the protagonist's suicide as heroic, and tropers roundly bashed it. I guess that's because Film Brain bashed it too.

A few days ago I quickly checked TvTropes after ~4 years and not only it's as hyporcitical with "Tropes are not bad, but we will make names and descriptions of every single one as ironic as possible", whole idea of this website being threated as writers bible as present but political biases now are even more clear.

So, yeah, still hate this website and hope to not check it another 4 years at least.

So I've been playing through GTA San Andreas again. TV Tropes has these "your mileage may vary" pages where all the opinionated autism is supposed to go, not that it ever stops them. San Andreas' YMMV page is just baffling, though. There's a lot of focus on CJ (your player character) being portrayed as a good guy and it not meshing with the rest of the game; in particular, they single out Deconstruction (a really forgettable and kinda dumb San Fierro mission) as being "cruel":

Thing is, this isn't even close to the cruelest mission the game has you do. The mission right before it has you killing a valet, stealing a car and planting drugs in it to ruin the DA's career. Why? He was told to do it. There was a few early game missions for OG Loc where you had to steal Madd Dogg's rhymebook and drown his manager to ruin his career. CJ is told to kill on tons of missions, you rob four banks, you're encouraged to jack cars, and CJ calls himself an asshole in some of his pedestrian dialogue. Where does the game portray him as a good guy?

At least Deconstruction has a point; they catcalled his sister and said she looked like a hooker, so he fucks them up using the tools he has at hand. A dick thing to do, sure, but find me a good guy in any GTA game. Also, it's so ridiculous, you can't find it the least bit chilling.
Wait a second. Social justice logic says that acting pervy towards a woman is worse than murder, rape, slavery, and genocide combined, so shouldn't we be happy that CJ buried that guy alive?
