Tropers have daddy issues I guess.

Isn't there a trope about fathers spending to much time at work and not with their familly, If these people are so dedicated to entertainment I would not be suprised if they resent their fathers for putting work ahead of a game or not buying them a new toy.

I never got the 'Nightmare Fuel' section for GTA Vice. Everything in that article can't be listed as even remotely creepy. C'mon, this game is 18+ for a reason.
Considering how super tongue-in-cheek VC is and how much of the game is played for laughs, it's stunning anybody could find it scary. For fuck's sake, they found this line scary.

Psycho: "Love Fist. Your time polluting the airwaves is over. I gave you the chance to be friends. Now, I'm giving you the chance to die. Try to slow down and your limousine will explode, along with your BIG, HAIRY ARSES!"

This line is funny more than anything, and yet some mongoloid on TVT thinks it's "jarring."

To be fair, that was a trope in a lot of older movies. The classic “dad goes to work and misses his son’s baseball game” thing. Its not used much anymore, since more parents work weekends now.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Headscratchers/TheMatrix Its amusing to see how tropers are trying to understand the 'logic' of the Matrix. When the simplest answer the Wachowskis never really thought of the logic of their world beyond the bare bones would suffice.I like the Matrix(first one that is) but i'm not gonna pretend it makes sense or try to find a way to explain it.

It was mainly just borrowed and warmed over Phil Dick with some fashion borrowed from secondhand cyberpunk. All the Wachowskis did after it was troon out and produce even worse movies.

Hey now, The Matrix is my all time favorite movie, so I take offense to it getting bashed. 😋

In all seriousness though, I do get that it has flaws (all films do), but I still consider it to be an A+ masterpiece. The less said about the sequels though, the better. And this is coming from someone who actually thinks that Speed Racer 2008 was a really underrated film, and that The Matrix 4 could still impress (though that's do to having two acclaimed novelists helping Lana on the script).

On the note of TV Tropes, I just "love" what they said in regards to the Misaimed Fandom section on the Matrix's YMMV page:

"The term Redpilled is nowadays used by a great number of right-wing people who claim that they have woken up to how the world really is (mostly in regards to feminism or racism). Red was the colour of premarin, a pill commonly prescribed to transgender women in the 1990s. Both Wachowskis have since come out as trans women, i.e. woken up to who they really are. Quite whether this was all intentional is uncertain; in light of this, however, red pillers adopting this imagery is pretty hilarious."

The only thing that could be spooky for a dumb kid who got the game thanks to bugging their parents is the random murder apartment. How absurd of those people to list that junk just to fill out a page

Thing is The Matrix had such a huge cultural impact in the 99-04 period that many of its ideas were easily tailored to whatever political cause you support. You want it to support left wing ideas it fits you want it to support right wing ideas it fits primarily because the story is a fight the system story so whoever 'thinks' they're 'opressed' can easily claim The Matrix 'woke' them up.Details like how this is a movie about machines using humans as a battery so maybe its philosophy is not that much more deep than its 'science' are routinely ignored.I do believe that the general anxiety and paranoia of the immediate post-9/11 period helped it since in that environment ideas about 'things are not what they seem' could more easily gain credence.

It has some genuine elements of Gnosticism and what you might broadly consider New Age philosophy. They're not smart, but they did seem to be well-read on a lot of esoteric authors outside of mainstream cyberpunk.

Also it leans heavily on Judaism, for obvious reasons. So many names and themes are lifted from the Torah.

TV Tropes said:
In fiction, you can tell this trope is at play when scenes involving a woman create intrigue, concern, competition, tension, danger or stress for the characters, or when some major conflict or disaster is caused by a woman doing (or convincing a man to do) something manipulative, selfish or foolish.

It takes the form of male characters being harmed or held back by them, women themselves being endangered or oppressed, tougher characters vigilantly protecting them, female characters fighting and scheming against each other, femininity being portrayed as inherently shallow, vapid or unstable, feminine male/trans characters causing some sort of trouble, or women not being held to the same scrutiny as men. Put bluntly, this conclusion is one of the most common forms of misogyny, but it also has elements of Truth in Television due to the inherent problems and disadvantages that many women face socially and physically.
Laconic version: Putting women in your show is misogyny.

I notice half the article seems to be trying to describe a femme fatale, but at no point does it link to that trope. A more helpful community might direct the author to the existing trope page rather than promoting their mistake.

I went dumpster diving in the forums, and here's what I got:

I get that TV Tropes is one of the few remaining brony bastions today, but c'mon, that meme's nearly a decade old. Leave a dead horse alone.

Now that's a joke if I've ever heard of one. If Bernie's on the right side of history, then why is he screwed in every waking moment of history.

It's well known that the WMG page tends to be full of things that could only true in fanfiction, and bad ones at that, but did you know that there's one for real life?
