Ugh yikes

I'm not allowed to like American Beauty?

Sounds like it from this entry for deader than disco

And it's still a good movie fuck youView attachment 1031139
I would have assumed that the revelations that Kevin Spacey was playing himself in American Beauty would actually improve the movie in a very twisted way since its now an example of perfect casting. Also is it possible that the general sense of 'boredom' of the late 90's is what led to things like 9/11?I mean that maybe just maybe someone noticed that societal trend 'Al Qaeda' and decided to rebel against it?By throwing a wrench through everything?Just like how in Fight Club our protagonist rebels against late 90's consumer culture by organising a terrorist attack blowing up skyscrapers?Wouldn't this also make such a movie better in retrospect because it shows the world as it was and the desire to rebel against it?Because the protagonist in American Beauty wants to rebel against his reality he just didn't feel the need the fly planes into buildings to do it.

Well that's the thing, isn't it? Guys who are considered "hunks" are role models to guys which most guys look up too. Girls who are considered "beauties" tend to be viewed as unreachable standards by girls.
That'd normally be the problem of a double standard here, but given that beauties have an index all to themselves (which is mostly populated by tropes/fetishes related to girls), I think it's safe to say that a few articles about hot guys is probably acceptable.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/ThirteenGoingOnThirty Hair chopsticks is cultural appropriation?I sometimes wonder if the whole 'don't wear clothes that are inspired from other cultural styles' is actually some really subtle joke that no one got or if these people are genuinely serious.

Women have been putting decorative sticks into their hair since ancient Egyptian and Roman times. Also, why the fuck do we care if Japanese people are "culturally appropriated"? We didn't make any of them slaves and if it weren't for us, they'd would still be living lives of miserable subsistence on rice farms. If there's anyone who should be upset about Cultural Appropriation, it's Western Christians, as Japan has made dozens of shows using Christian imagery, often with little knowledge of what it meant. They've also used Christian symbolism to promote Occult/Luciferian ideals ("God is Evil and Oppressive,") or have portrayed religious figures in an inaccurate or disparaging way.

Powerlevel here, but I've personally had Japanese roommates in college, and they were always happy to share their culture with me - to the point where one gave me a manual and advice about making my own yukata, and taught me traditional songs to play on my recorder. These were special moments that I will treasure, and the fact that other college kids will not be able to experience them because some dangerhaired, throbbing cunt-twats decided they were Crimes against Humanity along the lines of The Killing Fields brings my piss to a frothing boil.

The Portuguese did, they purchased tons of slaves from Japan in the 16th century to sell elsewhere or for their own colonies and are said to have considered them (and Chinese slaves) better than African slaves. They had to stop because it pissed off Hideyoshi and some nobles.

Another rant on Reddit.

Also, completely rich they have this:

Fighteer once again is at fault for why a website is in the shitter. It's just clockwork at this point.

Back when I used to browse the site, I used to see loads of examples for this fanfic called Gensokyo 200x, I clicked the link to see what is was about, needless to say, thank god I never read it.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/TomJones Tropers don't like 'Delilah' a song about murder in which the murderer is not a cartoon villain is too disturbing or something.Maybe if the genders were reversed tropers would think its empowering.

Idiots. Autists.

"Where the Wild Roses Grow," a duet between the murderer and the victim, by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue.

Murder is and always has been one of the most popular subjects of songs, murder over infidelity even more so. The song above isn't even motivated by anger. The murder is for no particular reason.

However, it's from an album called Murder Ballads, in which every single song is about murder.

Tropers don't like anything that's not some teen power fantasy satisfying pop culture reference laden abomination built by corporation that can afford creating multiple sequels and spinoffs based on same property. They're perfect consumers like that.

I particularly like the sperg who goes on about how a song about a sympathetic murderer would never be allowed these days...odds that this cretin's played his copy of Cave & Minogue's 'Where The Wild Roses Grow' to a pancake? But hey, y'know, they're cool so it doesn't count.

A recently released trope:

They managed to list Contrapoints as one of the examples listed.
