I doubt it is the worst case of people criticizing a video game they have never played.

Seriously? You have shit like Samheim and the Boogieman who were legitimate threats in the early (good) seasons, and you choose Chicken Egon from one of the shit seasons?

Nightmare Fuel means nothing anymore when these are the standards it has.
I never watched the show, but they have a point there. Nightmare Fuel is not "dangerous opponent" or "in-universe high stakes". Nightmare Fuel is a specific thing that is scary and off-putting to consider, and body horror counts as such for a lot of people. No one got harmed by Samhain or the Boogieman.

TV Tropes used to make the distinction between "Nightmare Fuel" (things that aren't meant to be scary but found so by tropers) and "High-Octane Nightmare Fuel" (things that are scary by design). But they folded the two entries into one for God knows why.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/InLivingColor A sketch show using the words 'ho' and 'bitch' and which took plenty of inspiration from real life issues of the early 90's or which came into proeminence at the time like 'ghetto' culture has to have those words edited out today. In about 10 years i doubt anything made before 2010 will be acceptable anymore to watch.
Well, that's not as bad as a Simpsons episode changing a brief line about a character's birthday due to a deadly incident happening on the same day. I don't think a majority of the viewers would even notice the date Homer says.

To sperg some more about this, the idea of werechickenhood is legit off-putting. It combines:
- the involuntary transformation itself
- loss of higher mental faculties and being aware of it
- shame / embarrassment (chickens are Not Cool)
- helplessness (unlike dogs, cats or ravens, chickens are farm animals and need to be taken care of)
- bodily functions and needing help with them
- threat of being eaten
This can actually scare a child of the target demographic.

There was a children's evening show on Soviet tv in which puppets would act out the beginning of a slice of life sketch, watch a cartoon (not an original production - licensing was a non-issue), then, having calmed down and cheered up, finish the sketch learning a Very Important Lesson (not from the cartoon itself - the content of the cartoon and any Very Important Lessons contained therein weren't discussed).

One of the puppets was a boy, and in one episode a wizard turned him into an anthropomorphic piglet for asshole behavior. Children from all over the country (well, those who had tvs in '71) flooded the studio with letters (presumably written with parents' help): "Pretty please, [wizard], don't turn me into a piglet, I promise I'll be good".

(Supposedly the management didn't even want a child character for autistic reasons, so he stayed a piglet. The piglet got himself quite a TV career over the years, even moonlighting as Russia's spokesperson at Junior Eurovision in 2018 and 2019.)

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/TheFlintstones So the negative reaction to Rosie O'Donnell as Betty was because of sexism and fat-shaming.Kind of weird how SJWs complain about whitewashing characters and not finding an appropriate actor for the part but they're perfectly fine with this and consider that any negative reaction is because of somethingism.

You know she was only cast in the role because she could do Betty's laugh?

Ugh yikes

I'm not allowed to like American Beauty?

Sounds like it from this entry for deader than disco

And it's still a good movie fuck you
