What a jackass.

Of COURSE things in the Bronze Age are not gonna be as enlightened as the modern era, but that's the whole point of "Fair For It's Day" as a trope, to show something that was downright tolerant and humane by the standards of the time THEN.

The Law of Moses had it's issues, but in many areas it was big leap forward in terms of promoting concepts still in use today, like the idea that you can't be convicted on the word of just one person, there have to be multiple people with stories that match up before witness testimony is worth beans, and they even included a rather appropriate penalty for false witnesses.
And as a bonus, the law applied regardless of the societal standing of the parties involved.

Considering this was an era where you could get sent up the river based on the word of someone of higher social rank with no chance to prove your innocence at times in many other cultures of the time, that was pretty damned progressive.

Yeah, the marriage laws were still pretty cringe, but some things were still pretty humane for the Bronze Age, and instead of splitting hairs, just note what was pretty tolerant and decent for the era and move on with your life.

People in the year 2100 will find TV Trope's abuse of fossil fuel in order to transmit their brain farts absolutely abhorrent.

Their are three scenarios I can see happening to tv tropes in the future

1. The most optimistic yet least likely is that the more reasonable site members get up with Fighteer, overthrow the corrupt regime, and restore open dialogue

2. A situation similar to the neogaf incident where several of the staff turn out to be involved in pedo shit leading many to branch off into an even worse spinoff a la resetera.

3. The most likely scenario is that TV tropes slowly hemorrhages members due to a combination of overzealous banning and people getting fed up causing them to migrate to ATT. The site will go on for a long while before finally shutting down but by then it will be a shell of a shell of a shell of its former self

#3 has been happening ever since Geth started his branch. But tropers are generally too spineless for the other two to happen, though.

Looks like Fighteer isn't the only one...
Madrugada is nearly as bad as Fighteer as a draconian administrator; it is just that her public face is less asshole-ish.

I know nothing about the newer mods like Nombre but I guess they're mostly SJW zombies.

Come to think of, the only reasonable one that I've seen i Septimus; which isn't saying much because he's kind of a greenhorn.

Another bonus: Proper Hygiene!

Another bonus: Proper Hygiene!

Quite true.

God's law was pretty big on not eating anything gross, washing frequently, not engaging in unsafe sexual practices, not letting the dead go without proper burial, and other rather enlightened concepts of hygiene, which, for a period when they had literal deities dedicated to beetles that crawled around in shit and where being a sick fuck was considered an act of devotion to certain gods, was a pretty forward thinking set of concepts.

However, given the same people who complain about the Bible being unprogressive are likely the same people who live like pigs IRL (and a lot of tropers outright admit to being NEETs), no wonder that goes unmentioned.
