Tropers actually think these are "controversies".
(On a side note, it's painfully hypocritical how they have a page dedicated to shaming following critics' every word on what does and doesn't suck, when they do this themselves without a hint of irony.)

Many of these 'controversies' can really be summed up as 'They don't allow us to make all the decisions! How dare they!', at least when they aren't purely examples of the pits everything goes through that rarely descend further than 'mildly annoying' or 'obvious things to avoid.' Old cartoons don't age well? You don't say?

Their overshadowed by controversy page is soo long and with so many subpages its borderline ridiculous. But there is one thing that caught my attention. In their real life figures that got overshadowed they include Marjory Stoneman Douglas famous and surprisingly long lived conservationist. The controversy is because a high school that was named after her was the scene of the mass shooting in Florida back in february 2018 when 17 died.I'm not entirely sure but i have a feeling they're streching the concept of overshadowed to include a bit too many things. If you reach the point at which it isn't even the person directly involved in some way but a place that just happens to share the same name then you're going too far.Their rules are so flexible no wonder their lists are so long.

And that is one of the major problems with TV Tropes. Their rules are way too flexible, which often leads to all these godawful YMMV pages becoming bloated with non-examples and general re.tardation.

TVTropes, now with casual racism for no reason. Rather surprised that said troper didn't get the hammer, then I realized the website is basically a dictatorship.

You and me know they got unpersoned.

  • The episode "Strays" has an obvious and explicit pro-immigration message. But given that the shows's co-writer and most of the actors are from Latin American immigrant families (with Rita Moreno being a first-generation immigrant herself), and that it was made in a time when anti-immigrant racism in the USA was on the rise (especially with the presidential campaign and subsequent election of Donald Trump), it's hard to blame them for wanting to drop that anvil.
  • "The Turn" emphasizes just how awful things have gotten for Latinx people in America since the 2016 election, with anti-Latinx sentiment becoming much more socially acceptable and obvious.
Elena: Ever since a certain someone called us all murderers and rapists, people think they can say whatever racist thing pops into their head.
  • Guns are dangerous, from "Locked Down." For every argument in favour of bearing them, there are ten reasons not to.
  • "Hold, Please" focuses on the horribly inadequate VA system to get medical assistance for war injuries.

  • "Hello, Penelope" emphasizes the importance of taking anti-depressants and properly dealing with depression and anxiety by showing Penelope going off of her meds and quitting therapy and the resulting breakdown. It also makes a point of saying that if someone you love is suffering from a mental illness, you need to remember that just because you don't understand why they're feeling anxious, depressed, lonely, hopeless, or frightened, it doesn't mean that it isn't real for them.

This One Day At A Time show needs its own thread.

Who else would it be, because I'm sure it isn't a Mexican.

Cherokee princex?

Cuddle Me Lambie, Mobile Clinic and School of Medicine are technically this in Malaysia because not only they're released several months late (in Mobile Clinic's case, half a year late- since Mobile Clinic's release in Malaysia was initially substituted for the Asia-only A Little Cuddle Goes A Long Way), but so far it's only been released as part of the EzyDVD line. To wit, this line is an atrocity because not only are the subtitles hardwired and cannot be turned off (which is acceptable if it was a VideoCD release where subtitles are not part of the specifications, but these are DVDs, which have the luxury of subtitles and captioning built in), the movie only has an English language soundtrack. This contrasts against the "premium" release which the last three DVD releases got (which does have multiple language subtitles th

I am so glad this person living in a second world country has their priorities in order

Curious about what "atrocity" that troper was talking about I google the shows' names:

Yup. Having to read subtitles on these is "atrocity" indeed.

Apparently the X-men are not progressive enough.https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/YMMV/XMenFirstClass Some unfortunate implications include the fact that the professor apparently only bought female mannequins during the training montage.

My god, Only female mannequins ? why that couldn't have just been something so minor any regular functioning human would just go "...eh".
It has to be a subtle implication that he's misoginystic.
For fuck sake, they HAVE to be intentionally reaching, for this shit.

Literal crying over something most viewers probably don't even notice when they're watching the show. Tropers should leave the fucking house every once in a while instead of overanalysing everything they're watching to find the tiniest things to complain about.
