Oh shit, they deleted the "We're Still Relevant, Dammit" trope three years ago. That's a downer.
They have a really big problem of gutting tropes in favor of sticking examples in new tropes that end up being overly specific, simply because they think the original was too broad and ended up with too many examples per media category. And those are the lucky ones: sometimes they just delete the pages for a rather distinctive trope in favor of showing a few potential components, like what happened to a few of the “Fountain of Expies” with personal tropes.

Even this romance-but-with-cancer YA novel that was really popular in the 2010s (but I found incredibly boring) has this stuff? :story:

Pure autism. Literally the whole POINT of tropes is they occur lots of times.

See, your problem is that you're looking at tropes from the view of somebody who just wants to use the site to look up tropes, rather than somebody wanting the asspats from being a “valued editor.” Take all the problems of Wikipedia (which you of all people would be well-learned on) and then apply it to a site without the need to seem truly academic. This then leads to the issue of people purging pages for either being “too broad (weapon tropes as my personal example)” or “too specific (standalone articles for major “Fountains of Expies” as the one I think about the most)” without concern for the value of the page in regards to identifiable tropes. This then leads to some things completely being lost since they held a relevant position that cannot be truly filled by using the broader or specific tropes without sounding like a broken record.

Yeah apparently it was deleted for being nothing but complaining. Which is a weird explanation and really makes you wonder what actually set people off about it.
No, this is TVTropes. When they say they shut something down for being an outlet for negativity, they mean it. One of their defining traits is being chickenshit scared of opinionated stuff.

They complain about The Fairly OddParents having it in its last seasons yet the show has had dated references even as far back as the pilot
Hell, the pilot had a joke about a Titanic Directors Cut!
And there was one entry written horribly mentioning “Timmy’s parents mention the vine app, which shut down the day the episode aired”
Except “Certifiable Super Sitter” aired in January 2017 in the US, that line is from “Dimmsdale Daze”, which aired in the US MONTHS after Vine shut down, and that was actually Chloe’s parents mentioning “making Vines like all the cool kids” (a visual pun with forest vines”). These people can’t even proofread.

I hated it when they got rid of the "for want of a nail" trope and there is a sandbox for the old example that has been lounging in for literal years.
