Honestly its impossible to make them satisfied, if the character avoids stereotypes they will likely go "its just a white guy painted as a native". Better not have minorities at all in your stories, they will complain the same, but at least you didnt had the work of making a character just so people can shit on it.

That is one of the funniest takeaways I've ever heard.
"What could be causing our lower pageviews" Kory says "Surely it couldn't be related to our wonderful community or nebulous content violation standards. We just need more slop!"

I guess I can't be too hard on him, Kory is the one who realized that deleting all the most popular trope pages was actually hurting the site. Some people still don't get the correlation though

Just saw this thread for the first time. Anyone remember CrazyGoggs videos? That shit was so funny, I want to say they're from 2011/2012 and I think they still hold up now. The channel has been deleted for almost as long, but there are reuploads.

This reminds me because the only Robot Masters in Mega Man 6 (and by extension the Mega Man Classic series) who weren't designed by Japanese people are Knight Man and Wind Man due to the boss character contest at the time, which was open to International fans.
 
This guy talking about him going to a different site for a change like it's some kind of grand journey he undertook is crazy to me. These fuckers whole universe revolves around their hugbox.

Shut down immediately. So Kory and his band of bitches know what's going on, they just refuse to discuss openly where the plebs can see them. What they don't seem to realize is that the site is dying because people are leaving it, people are leaving it because the community has become a no-fun-allowed cesspit and you get thumped and banned over the slightest provocations. On one hand, I can applaud trying to keep toxic elements off your website but on the other hand when the criteria of being a toxic element keeps expanding, it's not exactly a mystery why folks stop coming back.

I really love guys who pop in just to announce that they had nothing to add. "I saw a trope once and thought it was stupid and should be cut" should be a ban on sight honestly.

On the one hand, he's right. Tropes are fiction based, and if it were up to me, I'd completely delete "real life" sections on them.

On the other hand, there are... kind of tropes to sports though. And sports are big and popular. So if they were wanting to increase traffic, I'd actually spin off a "sportsTrope" copy of the website (ballTropes? what would you call it?) and let people go nuts on there with some crossover linkage between the two so they can both feed on each other.

Yes, like RPG.net they have hit the paradox point where they need to expand their numbers, but their requirement for members are so narrow there's maybe 5 people out of the 9 billion that could sign up.

Hence why if they smart, they would give a place for the jocks to congregate and increase numbers but have it sequestered a bit so the tropers wouldn't have to socialize with them.

I wanted to test a theory about history revision, so I looked up "The Woman King" on the site and noticed something. The YMMV page doesn't talk about the backlash for historical inaccuracy and whitewashing a tribe of black slavers. So I checked the Trivia page and found this

Kinda seems like they're leaving something out doesn't it? Like the fact that Lupita, God Bless her, left because she realized the movie was pure propaganda and was outright lying about the Dahomey kingdom being a tribe of progressive feminist icons.

The main page does have a section for artistic license history but you can tell they put it there out of obligation and not because they wanted too.
