I think it falls pretty neatly under Did Not Do The Research.
Apparently DNDTR is basically just a category for a bunch of tropes involve writing fuck-ups which CBAHC is already under. Sometimes the restraints that the forked content puts you under is really fucking annoying.

The best I can come up with is Pop Culture Callow? Even that's admitably shit.

EDIT: another user on ATT suggested Media Research Failure. that any good?

Media Research Failure sounds the least autistic if you ask me.

For transparencies sake we're actually having a conversation about it here:

https://allthetropes.org/wiki/Topic:Ti2o914dvklovpg2

As you can see in comparison to TVT we actually have discussions instead of banning people for disagreeing slightly.

I'm happy to take Media Research Failure btw but it'll be a matter of democracy and consensus.

I apologise if this is off-topic in any way.

It's like it's not enough they make some reference to a show they like. It has to be the most oblique and unintuitive reference they can manage.

"Cowboy Bebop At His Computer" is a great example. What the hell does this even mean?
I may have mentioned this before, but another one is "The LLibby", which is their name for the "bitchy head cheerleader" character. They named it after the one from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. It's utterly ridiculous - if you have to have a reference, call it "The Mean Girl" or something that doesn't require deep lore knowledge for a dumb Archie Comics adaptation.

IIRC they changed that to "Alpha Bitch" which is probably more descriptive than the original name, albeit not as universal as "the mean girl"

Surprised they didn't call it "The Cordelia" because, you know, it all started with Buffy fans.

This has to be the reason Bonnie is permanently pregnant. Because pregnant women are hot.
And it's entirely possible that Peter has a cuckold fetish, as he was seriously juiced to find out Lois used to be a KISS groupie, and Brian has hinted that Lois hasn't even been faithful in marriage.
This troper is fairly certain someone has the hots for Joe. A well-built, good looking man in a wheelchair. And the fact that he can't have sex undoubtedly sets off a few eunuch fetishists.
Oh so he's like the people who wrote this. Except he can't have sex 'cause he's paralyzed, not cause he's a fat autist who lives in the basement.

Can't Joe have sex though? Or is Bonnie pregnant with the product of an affair?

At least have your fetish match Family Guy's deep lore, fam.

The story is that some newspaper/magazine had a caption of that anime, with a character (the protagonist?) using a computer. Given the anime is called "Cowboy Bebop", they thought this was the character's name.

"Misattibuted Name" would be an accurate name for this "trope", but it doesn't get anyone's e-peen hard.

Surprised they didn't call it "The Cordelia" because, you know, it all started with Buffy fans.
Please tell me they don't think Whedon is bigger than Shakespeare.

Speaking of Buffy-ese, there used to be a trope called "The Spike" which was renamed shortly. I wish they kept that name to see how bronies would make of it.

I played JumpStart as a little kid, and it's OK to love a fictional character when you're young, but as an adult, it's very, very odd.

If anyone thinks TV Tropes isn't filled with hipsters, show them this. They think Golden Axe is "too mainstream", for one thing.
Half of the Western Animation section of that page is a list advertisting other wonderful tropes with such names as All Animation is Disney and All Adult Animation Is South Park.

I also clicked the Random Page button, and THIS showed up:

What's autism without train sperging? From the page on the Polar Express movie:

I didn't include the YMMV that they mention because it's just more technical garbage about trains and I don't know a thing about trains so it's pretty much Japanese to me. And in case you're wondering, yes there's more.

There's also this:

Gee, it's almost as if they just needed a song lyric and it wasn't actually supposed to tie into anything!
