I used to edit there,

I mean I still could if I truly wanted. So you know I am not one of those people that were banned so tropers can smugly link me to a troll and dismiss my opinion.

I am just sick of the community there.

To be honest I can’t decide if what bothers me the most is the obsessive lifeless and joyless nerds that form their community, or the dictator moderators.

You can’t edit or contribute without having 10 lifeless nerds policing articles they claimed as their own and creating drama for every minor disagreement. They are literally checking them 24/7. Imagine using all your free time to see if someone edited an article of some anime or worse a literal children’s cartoon.

Literal fun police.

I’ve seen my own hard work bastardized just because I disagreed with a clique, the current woke mob, or a single guy that doesn’t have a life except for checking new edits.

I don’t even bother challenging their changes as I know it’s just fighting against the tide. And I value my time.

Or the fact that the staff treats you like a disposable drone. They also make perfectly clear that your contributions and hard work are worth less than nothing because someone will just replace you.

Whoever doesn’t think the “edit banned’ thread isn’t a power trip for the moderators is kidding themselves. They ask you to publicly humiliate yourself and beg them for forgiveness. Even if you buy the BS that you “need to understand what you did wrong” why does it need to be public? Even kiwifarm‘s talk to staff forum is private, and this is a place that laughs at internet weirdos.

Tvtropes is proof that nerds are far more cruel than the jocks and cheerleaders they like to bitch about. Maybe they are happier because they are genuinely nice and likable? Just saying.

I still have a functional account (just checked) but I totally avoided the forums and almost all my old edits are on total normie shit, not the kind of weird shit autists freak out about.

I'm just glad my final post was to passively aggressively tell Fighteer to actually pay attention to his kid.

He probably still ignored it.

Just today, I came back to a page that I heavily contributed too just to find that several of my edits are just gone now. Sometimes TVTropes just decides that something is no longer a trope and then doesn't have anything there to replace it.

But yeah, I definetly relate to you about the nerds policing. Everytime I make an edit now, I wonder if I'm going to get banned again for "edit warring" (which btw I am certain is just a catch all rule to ban people for stepping on toes). Because, when you really think about it, any slight adjustment can be considered an attack by these losers.

Sometimes it's just fixing grammar.

It's worth noting that people are kind of going insane because the mods have been afk for an few days. With how long they've been around, it's kind of funny on how long it takes for them to process people based solely off an edit war or someone going off-topic in the forums

Why am I not surprised. For those who haven’t been to the cinema recently (and I can perfectly understand why), the titular character is a robot who is designed to look like a little girl!!!
Seriously!!! The villain just doing a werid dance somehow gives her a gay fanbase! Not only the fact that she looks like a little girl.
Bruh, to this day I can't get over how fucking Pennywise was apparently a queer icon.
Then again, a deranged child-hunting clown? They might've been onto something...
I remmber when they tried to claim Vecna the main villain of Stranger Things a Queer icon. Despite Vecna being a complete monster type villain who has caused enough harm to the characters. Don't know way they want that character as queer icon!!

Or the fact that Mr. Babadook became a queer icon just out of a honest mistake!

This unfortunately has been the state as to what 2020 has turned into. A lot of people like to point that the years of 2008-2015 were the beginning of social justice activism into entertainment, but the nerd culture being subverted into the latter years of the last decade to now are showing themselves to have fake nerds and insecure social media users coming together to kick out old and casual fans of the things that nerd culture was based upon.

In the new age, these fake nerds on TV Tropes would be shamed and castigated on the Internet if they weren’t being propped up by the Wil Wheaton and nu-Star Trek/Star Wars types that just will not go away even if you tried. (Well, less Wil Wheaton in this case, but the people that have infested ST/SW over the last decade and a half have shown their hand and started rummaging TV Tropes with their insane political agendas and it’s made the entire hing joyless and unfun.)

Either way, good on you for leaving TV Tropes for good. I already know that in my personal case, MyAnimeList is up next. Hopefully, Letterboxd will not suffer the same fate.

So, someone made the grievous sin of sharing their opinions about Victoria and an random retard wants that page cut, at any cost. One of the corresponding threads went apeshit because he's being more paranoid than the regulars. Seriously, it's an pretty good read,if you're bored. After all, that site has an moral obligation for preventing people from being radicalized into turning into skinheads. But at any rate, I've archived Victoria's subpages, the reviews, and an giant brick of autism about the book's politics.

I also had some archives of some random political stuff, like why an murderhobo game has an page, but the forum ate that draft

Lefties hate "Atlas Shrugged"

Jannies pruning Victoria's heartwarming page

Christian Nation an "satrical" dystopian novel about fundies ruining America. YMMV page for it

And apparently, Victoria might be cut, thanks to someone shrieking their head off about the site "hosting" alt-right propaganda. For reference, here's the book that inspired the Oklahoma City Bombing and it features absolute genocide as an happy ending while Victoria is just some alternative future where society didn't go full retard with the nukes (as far as I know)
