Trump’s Contempt for the Constitution

Donald Trump has, once again, shown his contempt for the Constitution and the rule of law. The President of the United States does NOT have the right to unilaterally take this country to war, even against a corrupt and brutal dictator like Maduro. The United States does NOT have the right, as Trump stated this morning, to “run” Venezuela. Congress must immediately pass a War Powers resolution to end this illegal military operation and reassert its constitutional responsibilities.

Trump’s attack on Venezuela will make the United States and the world less safe. This brazen violation of international law gives a green light to any nation on earth that may wish to attack another country to seize their resources or change their governments. This is the horrific logic of force that Putin used to justify his brutal attack on Ukraine.

Trump and his administration have often said they want to revive the Monroe Doctrine, claiming the United States has the right to dominate the affairs of the hemisphere. They have spoken openly about controlling Venezuela’s oil reserves, the largest in the world. This is rank imperialism. It recalls the darkest chapters of U.S. interventions in Latin America, which have left a terrible legacy. It will and should be condemned by the democratic world.

Trump campaigned for president on an “America First” platform. He claimed to be the “peace candidate.” At a time when 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, when our healthcare system is collapsing, when people cannot afford housing and when AI threatens millions of jobs, it is time for the president to focus on the crises facing this country and end this military adventurism abroad. Trump is failing in his job to “run” the United States. He should not be trying to “run” Venezuela.

Bernie Sanders is a US Senator, and the ranking member of the Senate budget committee. He represents the state of Vermont, and is the longest-serving independent in the history of Congress.

violation of international law
My favourite part is that all these ShitLib politicians have old tweets and statements from 2017 or whatever about how illegitimate Maduro was, yet he's still supposed to have special Harry Potter sovereign immunity. And the "international community" is supposed to be the only thing allowed to fix things...yet it hasn't done a thing for 8+ years.

He claimed to be the “peace candidate.”
Trump ended the Great Venezuelan War of 2026 in like 2 hours, before all these lefties even knew it was happening. Beats the hell out of 20+ year forever wars, and sounds like another Nobel Peace Prize to me.

It's because shitlibs have this moronic notion that a bunch of nutless bureaucrat faggots in Belgium (or some other irrelevant taintstain country like that) should be the ones in charge.

There's a reason the US does not acknowledge the International Criminal Court. Those mincing bleeding-hearts with shitty gaywad accents and delusions of wisdom would have the entire US military dissolved for daring to not allow Muhammad Abunutsack to have his way.

I thought the last time the United States formally declared war was in 1942 against Hungary and Romania.

Well you know what, at this point, fuck the democratic world. Because it seems to me all the “democratic world” is good for is providing welfare for shitskins at the expense of their own people and blaming America for all the world’s misfortunes. The democratic world can suck my red-white-and-blue cock.

The other part of this, isn't the usual line from immigrants how horrible their country is and how they want to escape it? If they had a shred of honesty, if the problem was fixed, why not just go home? Would make illegals less sympathetic to bleeding hearts at least.

"We have to fight them over there, so that we can bring them all here. And also, they'll show their appreciation by fighting you and each other here, but if you fight them here you're racist.

And also, we can only fight them over there for things like not hosting enough TransKid Pride parades, never for any resource or strategic influence that might benefit actual Americans."

I hesitate to call 4 short paragraphs "an opinion piece"
Sen. Sanders has never been much for long written works.

America being a nice place mostly owes something to its founding system of government and a huge chunk of that was the executive branch not acting like an elected king.
This is how the system is designed, This is what the president is for and is utterly nothing new. I really don't understand what people are thinking with whole no kings BS, a leader is elected then he leads.
The US is the current empire of our age and is doing empire things to protect its territories, I think the feminized academic and political thought is causing delusions on how real politics actually work now that the high BS ideals of the last decade are dying on the vine.

Commander in chief faggot.

Relax Bernie, you love war. Count your shekels

The constitution is literally useless, just burn the fucking thing anyway, it isnt protecting me, or anyone else, from anything

The early United States had norms that weren't written into the Constitution but were still expected to be followed, whether out of short-sightedness on the part of the guys that wrote it (mind, they didn't think they needed a Bill of Rights at first) or what. One of them was that the executive branch was meant to be very quiet and deferential to Congress. It was to have authority over the execution of the laws, administration of the government, command of the military, but it wasn't supposed to set the agenda for society but to implement it. And until around the time of Jackson that's pretty much how the government was run. Early Presidents didn't have a "bully pulpit." When they did make proposals it was often presented sheepishly. President could and was supposed to veto stuff he thought was genuinely unconstitutional - that's one of the checks and balances - but not just shoot down or push shit because he personally wants it/doesn't want it.

So these norms get weaker and weaker over time, but it escalates very rapidly starting around the Progressive Era. Now, admittedly, Executive Orders boomed in part because the executive had more shit to do anyways and the nature of what it was tasked with was starting to become a lot more open to interpretation. You get Congress delegating more of its legislative power. It's a real problem with managerial democracy: if you're going to be heavily involved in stuff like industrial policy, environmental regulation and such, then these are very technical issues where you kind of need experts running it. The downside, of course, is this how you get the "deep state," right, these technocrat mandarin jackasses that slowly infest everything. The military side of this was police actions. Congress is supposed to declare war, but since there's always the possibility of tiny, petty little wars against things like Indians, surprise attacks, insurrections, etc., the President does need to be able to issue commands to respond to that. But starting with Korea they just start abusing this power beyond belief to wage real, total, interstate war without formal declaration.

So the system is working somewhat in the sense that it hews to the word of the Constitution, but it violates the spirit of it.

And there are good reasons to not want an all-powerful President. One of the most insightful ones I've heard pointed out was that it turns every Presidential election into some existential crisis for the nation, whips up hysteria on a four year basis, leads to complete overhauls and chaos, compared to if change is forced to go through Congress and people know that they can't control things by just voooting harder than the other states. (Same thing is a strength of federalism.) And sure enough, what have we seen over the past few terms? President comes in, throws out all of the previous President's shitty EOs, things change constantly, people can't plan around it, your country slides a little more into becoming a banana republic.

The US is the current empire of our age and is doing empire things to protect its territories, I think the feminized academic and political thought is causing delusions on how real politics actually work now that the high BS ideals of the last decade are dying on the vine.
Well, good for you. Opinion in the trash. I never asked for an empire, never seen any evidence that empires make regular people's lives better. I've also seen a ton of evidence from history that some forms of government work better than others and still put a value on wisdom. Human nature is timeless. I know this system has outlasted a hell of a lot of empires and its founders didn't think like you.

I never asked for an empire
No one asked. Human history is a cycle of empires, why I personally prefer this cycle of previous it doesn't just not happen because you don't like it.
never seen any evidence that empires make regular people's lives better.
They generally don't, its more the problem of power at play here where power always centralizes and excludes, we still struggle with this problem today.
've also seen a ton of evidence from history that some forms of government work better than others and still put a value on wisdom
Yep, and the forces of greed and power always undermine this. Like I said before it something we struggle with to this day.
I know this system has outlasted a hell of a lot of empires and its founders didn't think like you.
No I think you are somewhat delusional here, the founders are very aware of the problem and are tried to create system that defies it, and it has done well but no system will survive the ongoing assault and decay of the traitors that seek to undermine it for power.

Watching communists who reeeed over Trump being a dictator suddenly line up to defend and protest against the incarceration of an actual dictator has been trippy. It is proof that not only are these people cruel, they are impervious to the concept of irony.

He represents the state of Vermont,
He represents himself no one else.
and is the longest-serving independent in the history of Congress.
Back to back lies.
Sanders calls himself independent but votes almost entirely with the Dem line and when he ran for President he ran as a Democrat.

Bernie is a Marxist who enriched himself at the expense of his constituents and has made every effort to destroy the United States.

As others have stated Trump was within his power to do what was done.
Trump campaigned for president on an “America First” platform.
Removing Maduro from power and ensuring Venezuela is not a hub of crime, illegal immigration, and a foothold on the Americas for Russia and China is America First.
He claimed to be the “peace candidate.”
Bombing nuclear weapon sites and taking out people who attack the US with drugs and criminals is a path to peace. You do not just get peace with blowjobs, Bernie, you commie fuck.
At a time when 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck,
Yeah you helped do that.
when our healthcare system is collapsing,
You voted for ACA which has done more than anything since the creation of medicaid/medicare to make healthcare unaffordable for your average jerkoff.

Ever wonder why doctors making house calls ended around the same time the government became the single largest spender on healthcare? Hmmm...I wonder.
when people cannot afford housing
Because socialists like you refused to manage the border or enforce US law.
and when AI threatens millions of jobs,
No you old queen it threatens to make people able to produce the kind of propaganda that used to be exclusively the government and MSM's weapon and it threatens your ability to replace the American people with jeets and illegals.
it is time for the president to focus on the crises facing this country and end this military adventurism abroad.
It is time for you to shut your mouth and resign.
Trump is failing in his job to “run” the United States. He should not be trying to “run” Venezuela.
Gas down.
Inflation down.
Illegal immigration down.
Economy up.
Drug peddling dictator down.

Few of these donkeys enrage me like Bernie. He is such a soulless faggot it is unreal.

The fact that bernie is still guntguarding for the dems despite them fucking him over multiple times goes to show he was never fit for the office, makes me regret supporting him.

One of my funniest memories is the obese dinduishas kicking Bernie off his own stage. Literal "why would my Golems turn on me?" moment lol.

He could've taken that moment to reevaluate what he was enabling. That meme where the BernieBro says "affordable college, healthcare, food, and housing" and the DEIs reply "ayo dat shit free" comes to mind. Maybe he could've had an RFK Jr. / Tulsi pivot, working on legitimate issues while reaching out to those on the right who share similar concerns.

Instead he went all in on Gay Race Communism: open borders and worship of troons and retarded Womyn of Calories, while White BernieBros get handed the bill. Suffah, subvoysive ((Sanders)).
