Somehow I missed the fact that Drumpf is also an antivaxer.

It still amazes me how every time I think my opinion of The Hairpiece couldn't get any lower he finds a shovel.

What'll happen next? "Y'know that Caliph Ibrahim guy? Close personal friend of mine. I don't see what all the controversy's for."

This is a level of stupid I cannot even comprehend. How the fuck to people take this man seriously?

Personally, I think Trump's support is largely a result of how manufactured and careful politics has gotten. People have been saying for years that the likes of Andrew Jackson, Teddy Roosevelt, and Lyndon Johnson could never even consider running nowadays because they'd have at least one Howard Dean moment a day. People are sick of the establishment, and sick of the sterility, so they see the likes of Trump as an antidote. This also helps explain why Bernie Sanders and Ben Carson have been polling so well: though even with all my still legitimate and completely justified grievances against Carson, I'd never compare either to Trump.

Another aspect of Trump's appeal is something almost everyone thought would originally be a weakness among the Republican party: his lack of conservative credentials. Just about every meaningful position Trump has adopted for his candidacy conflicts with platforms and ideas he's supported in the past. But he's drawn strength from it because people have been perceiving this as a testament to his free thinking and that he can't be bought, rather than the truth of him having no principles whatsoever and existing only to be bought.

Now the people who are supporting Trump for this reason are, needless to say with those capable of exercising even a minimal level of critical thinking ability, completely wrong. Donald Trump is every bit as much a part of the establishment as any candidate currently running today, if not more so given how he's spent his entire life in perpetual luxury and made his fortune off crony rackets and loopholes which exist solely to cover the ass of the nation's 0.1%. But even if he actually did come up from the bottom like Carson it wouldn't even slightly matter since the worst quality you can find in any politician has been Trump's creed for his entire life: his sole driving motivation is his desire for personal gain.

Almost everyone forgets why this is important, but I'll repeat the words of England's greatest alcoholic just to hammer it home:

Christopher Hitchens said:
A candidate may well change his or her position on, say, universal health care or Bosnia. But he or she cannot change the fact—if it happens to be a fact—that he or she is a pathological liar, or a dimwit, or a proud ignoramus. And even in the short run, this must and will tell.

Unfortunately, the truth never seems to matter as much as what a significant enough number of people merely think is or want to be the truth.

Please vote this guy in. I've always wanted an entire country and I have some 'magic' beans here I'm sure he'll take as payment.

Trump being an anti-vaxxer isn't a new thing, he repeated the same talking points a few years ago.

Also he was a birther. And kept it up long after everyone abandoned it.

Also this should be moved into the thread we have on Trump. There's no need to split discussion into two separate threads.

Donald Trump has sparked outrage after failing to condemn a call to purge the US of Muslims and claims that President Barack Obama is not an American.

The controversial Republican presidential candidate raised eyebrows when confronted with an outspoken questioner at the start of a town hall rally in New Hampshire last night.

As questions from the audience got underway, a man stood up and told the billionaire: “We have a problem in this country. It’s called Muslims.

"We know our current president is one. You know he’s not even an American. Birth certificate, man.”

Interjecting, Mr Trump said “we need this question. This is the first question”, before the audience member continued.

The man said: “But, anyway, we have training camps growing where they want to kill us.

"That’s my question: When can we get rid of them?”

Mr Trump came under fire for his response, which failed to challenge the nature of the man’s comments about Muslims or his claim that President Obama belonged to the faith.

The presidential hopeful answered: “We’re going to be looking at a lot of different things and, you know, a lot of people are saying that, and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there.

“We’re going to be looking at that and plenty of other things.”

Asked about the comments after the event, Mr Trump’s team said: “Christians need support in this country. Their religious liberty is at stake.”

Before adding: “Mr Trump was referring to the need to protect Christians’ religious liberties as his previous statement says and nothing more.

"To be clear, Mr Trump's response to the question regarding training camps in this country was 'we will look into it'."

Apparently supporters of the Trump can say anything they want...

Glorious leader-to-be Trump will go up in the polls because of this.

This is when he starts going down. Seriously, he has a 57% disapproval rating among Republicans. No other candidate is near that. Low information voters who don't show up for primaries and caucuses aren't going to take him over the top, because by the time primary season get serious, candidates are winnowed out. It's usually head-to-head by the time a candidate is selected. He wins heads-up against absolutely nobody.

Trump is about to start dropping but it won't be because some random person made a comment about Muslims at a rally, it will be because of his shot at Carly Fiorina the other day.
