Trump wouldn't be THAT BAD as President. He won't be any good, but I am challenged to understand how he would be as bad as people say in this thread. Bush was a wrong time, wrong place, wrong person situation that I don't think we could see again in our lifetimes. A dunderhead taking marching orders from a Veep on the payroll of a defense corporation at the time of a terrorist attack the size of 9/11. We couldn't see that happen again. That was dumb luck.
Trump, what would he REALLY do? Maybe commission the building of a wall. Congress may support paying for it. No way in Hell the 14th Amendment is going to be messed with. No way. He will likely pussyfoot around in Middle East relations. He's a huge corporatist and sees the value of a globalized economy for the investor class. I don't think he's huge on commodities like the Bush-Cheney regime was, so running up oil likely leaves him flaccid. He would likely push for stronger corporate and capital gains tax cuts, messing with SS/MEDI (the dirty little secret people don't like to talk about is that if you mess with the SS/MEDI tax and privatize the accounts, is that the contribution of employers won't be automatically rolled into the pay of workers, hence savings for investment and medical insurance in old age will be essentially be cut in half for W-2 earners (most of us) and there will be a 7.65% savings on labor costs) and possibly a national sales tax. At the end of the day, only corporate and capital gains tax cuts would likely be accomplished.
So we will spend more on tax cuts and take in less revenue, while not changing SS/MEDI inflows or outflows. Tax inflows won't change much, expenditures won't change much. Might build a wall, won't change the law. If Trump gets in, your life won't be much better, it won't be much worse and the future will still be unfunded.
