The NSA terrorist watch list and Americans are encouraged by local law enforcement to report suspicious activity. (Then local law enforcement reports it to the superior organization if they deem it necissary, etc.)

Many Americans suspect spy agencies keep watch lists for suspicious people on the Internet, for example, suspected pedophiles, but there's no way of knowing how deep that rabbit hole goes.

While this trend is disturbing, It's not exclusively Obama's fault. Every major politician has their finger in the surveillance pie. Plus it's not a exclusive list of Muslims. Could you imagine Obama making a public address telling everyone to take an extra close look at their Arab-a-like neighbors? Trump would.

Most of these trends existed back when Obama was a state Senator. While he has extended them, he certainly didn't invent them. It's particularly telling when Republicans claim the best way to roll back the surveillance state is to vote Republican - ten years ago that would have been a hilarious proposal.

I've never heard anyone say that.

Ted Cruz would be an otherwise good candidate, if he didn't constantly shit on gays and trannies. The conservatives blow it every time with the Christian garbage that nobody under 70 gives a crap about.

I find the guy pretty weasely, but I'd at least vote for him over Clinton.

If it were Trump/Clinton? I'll probably book it for the Cayman Islands.

"Instead of a government that seizes your e-mails and your cell phones, imagine a federal government that protected the privacy rights of every American... "

From Ted Cruz's campaign launch speech.

This is only not good because I don't believe this sniveling little cryptofascist for a second. As President, he'd do even worse than is currently being done.

I think when Rand Paul says this, he actually means it, but again, he's not getting the nomination.

The Paul family's too nativist and reactionary to trust with anything serious. Anybody who so openly courts and palls around with the David Duke crowd is nothing but poison.

I don't want a Cruz Presidency, but I'd still take him over Paul. I don't know who I'd take if it were Clinton vs. Paul, but if Paul thoroughly disavowed ties with the Natsocs, I'd probably give him a chance over Clinton and Cruz.

It was pretty telling for me when he kept Robert Gates as his secretary of defense and then replaced him with Chuck Hagel, though.

As far as the Republicans go the only ones who don't completely revolt me are Marco Rubio and that Kaisch guy but fuck him because he's from Ohio

That is because of the two parties both being controlled by the 1%. As a political outsider Trump is immune to the 1% and will be able to make real change to the political establishment

Trump is immune to the 1% in the same way bees are immune to bee venom

Don't get me wrong, Obama is as much on the hook for it as anybody is. But that's precisely my point - it's too big an issue to be put on the shoulders of any one politician, not even Bush Jr (who is, again, as much at fault as anybody).

Trump isn't running because he can't be bought. Trump's running because he exists only to be bought.

His business, when it wasn't tanking, made its bones through cronyism, mafia connections, government pork, crooked tactics like hiring illegals from the Second World to undercut American workers and avoid saftey measures, and the use of bankruptcy law as an accountability shield.

Only a complete moron would believe such nasty traits would change once said crook is granted more power than ever.

I rated this Disagree because Cruz is one of the schmucks who threatened a government shutdown this year.

Just for the record, I didn't quote Cruz because I wanted to demonstrate what a cool guy Cruz is. Cruz is a good example of the kind of Republican who cares deeply about the security state intruding on people's lives when there's a Democrat in the White House. If we get a Republican in 2016 and it isn't Cruz, he will start talking about how we all have to do our bit to fight terrorism and if you've got nothing to hide you've got nothing to fear.

I really don't know whether to think that Trump is completely lying about everything in his campaign and just wants to take power for another motivation or whether he genuinely believes what he is saying. The former is fine but the latter would be quite alarming

I saw some articles claiming Trump wants $5 mil from CNN to do a GOP debate and that he'll supposedly donate it to the military veterans after. I don't know how true it is, but any thoughts on that?
