Is there a reason every ebay listing for Animated lockdown is a broken figure missing parts with 100+ dollars as the price? Did some youtube person value speculator type say it was rare or some shit like "it's secretly worth a lot of money" recently? Like the rotf figure of him was scalped for a good while at around that same price but like god damn it seems the default price for used transformers figures at the random is just dead set on $80 at minimum if the sellers feeling generous. No way i'd be even able to pay those prices if I wanted to. God fucking help us if it's tied to the one youtube guy that took his namesake trooning lmao.
I think i have one of the versions of him but I could be remembering wrong. I'd need to go through old ass bins and boxes to try and find out if it's the animated or rotf version if I DO got him. This entire tangent basicallys temmed from me seeing a random intensely overpriced listing for a broken figure in my recommended and thenafter looking up the actual character it was finding out all the listings are now just like that save for the junkion retool one.

I guess my one good thing that's happened so far this year is getting figures I've been aiming to get for years at non-scalper prices while everything else descends into hell.
Wish I had a more wide open area to take photos but I also didn't want to take a photo on that shelf again so bootleg setup with random cardstock i have on hand it is.
Really interesting how in natural lighting overlord's extremely light grey/off white plastic looks plain white till you put him next to other figures. You can tell they were trying to go for an animation cel look with him color wise which is kind of interesting since no other figures from that year did that kind of thing with the colors, and you wouldn't really see that kind of weirdness again till 35th cel shaded megatron from a few years back in terms of plastic color choice.
I've started nooticing shit a bit more with people that talk about Transformers online where they now use the "brand friendly" shit hasbro's been pushing of referring to transforming as "converting". Usually the people that do this also are the ones that do the trying to rope current year stuff into their review sometimes and stretch the video to like almost two hours somehow other times to max out engagement.
A few days ago Jinrai fell off a shelf when I woke up and my pant leg brushed against the gun. Thankfully no severe scrapes or scratches like what happened with my used kingdom hot rod. I don't think I'll find a sane price for jinrai again for a while if ever going by the fact it took like almost if not ten fucking years to get a used one for a decent price that's technically below the MSRP. I say technically because it came with other figures, and the kingdom rodimus comparison is intentional because he came with more than what I showcased in that photo.
EDIT: I just noticed looking at my earlier photo that the small chip in the chest paint on jinrai was already there when I got him so yeah negligible damage.
Update on Dr. Lockdown's troondom, and unsurprisingly, he replaced his thematic Lockdown PFP...with an anime girl version of it done by his "boyfriend", a pooner named darkvioletcloud.

There's also third party kits and a KO with it's own third party kit packed in. Less the cannon itself and more the whole megatron shaped arm WITH the cannon that still fits in truck mode.
The listing from a reliable seller sold out for the KO optimus I was gonna get months ago but ended up ordering other shit months ago but like yeah I wanted the EVA version even if it didn't come with the arm. $50-$60 would have been worth it compared to the official being $100+. The cheaper price is also more in my realm of price I could handle on a good day.
I technically paid basically commander price for the used jinrai but as a pay in 4 and once again he came with more figures than just himself. I was going to follow up my earlier post with photos of him in super mode but I didn't get the time to put him in the trailer and take photos the last few days so eh.
So let me explain this shit.
Standard leader LG ginrai's MSRP was $90 and I forgot about that insanity till recently. He's literally just a glorified fixed/running change version of the TR optimus but with new feet that have bad QC loose ankles on earlier copies. For a little more money you could get the hasbro release that came with a bunch of other figures in a box set that was weirdly hard to find offline.
There seems to be an unspoken variant thing going on because I've seen some people's copies have plain grey shoulder guns while others have silver. Both look good it's just something I've noticed over the years.
Jinrai's a third party figure that's entire deal is being an inner robot for powermaster prime or combiner wars ultra magnus.
Most places that carried him wanted like $45-$50 for him which is steep given he's basically a deluxe with voyager tier articulation. For whatever reason once he initially sold out prices spiked to $100-$300 for him everywhere and linger there tot his day. Do not pay that price for this guy, he's quality but nothing is worth that much.
And then there's THIS FUCKER BELOW which was like 30-35 dollars and served as either a replacement head and figure to put inside powermaster prime's combiner wars magnus cab or on the back and inside of jinrai.
IMO it's a stretch of funds to get these all at MSRP to begin with but getting them together used with a few other figures at commander price is possibly the best you're gonna get, especially when scalpers are squatting on the individual figures themselves for 200-300 each.
Dramatic Capture Grimlock looks amazing, way better than the Hasbro version in just about every way Ratchet is there too i guess, lol. Wasn't expecting Takara to use the Studio Series molds, but if they release more, don't think i'll be buying my favorite characters from Hasbro ever again.
Comes with a abundance of extra items and Takara is releasing Slag and Sludge too. Don't own either of them so this is convenient timing from Takara. Of course cost will technically be higher than that of Hasbro, but this is honestly way higher value for what you're paying compared to a Hasbro figure
