It's yet another example of modern Transformers designers being allergic to any kind of engineering outside of "pull out something and then fold it back in in a fucked up way to do something a sliding joint could have done easier" but somehow worse and uglier than usual.
...Also the uneccesary partsforming.
I didn't realize it till i saw this video of an "early review copy" but the backpack on the thing is too close to the head to the point the added head articulation becomes pointless and the position of everything looks gross and cramped one way or bloated and disproportionately lanky in others.
He keeps calling any issue that happens with the figure's tolerances "oh because it's an early test sample" but that's clearly a finished product and these kind of tolerance issues have been present in final release figures constantly. I don't buy it for a moment it's just gonna be on this review copy.
Looks like if you want an anime accurate one that's not shit you're just gonna have to get a used copy of the original and mod it to have articulation going off tutorials on how to do that from like 2008.
it'd be an "ok" figure if it wasn't for the skimped on engineering and the fucking FOURTY TWO US DOLLARS PLUS TAX PRICETAG JESUS FUCK.
ALSO THEY FUCKED UP THE COLORS ON THE HEADS LIKELY AS A PAINT BUDGET SAVING THING I KNOW THAT'S BEEN BROUGHT UP BEFORE BUT FUCK
EDITX2: So fucking glad to have my OG sideways from hen I was a kid still, found a few listings online for beat up ones that aren't price gouging levels of cost but missing parts, may get one sometime either on or offline if I can find it to mod it a bit. Somehow spending $40 on a 20 year old $15 toy when including shipping is less egregious feeling than paying $42 for a deluxe marked as a voyager NOT including shipping with engineering fucky wuckied due to whatever BS excuse they'll come up with.
I don't have and cannot for the life of me afford a 3d printer but I found out that people have made 3d printable kits of various quality to bring the original figure up to modern articulation standards.

I'd 100% be trying to use these if I had the shit to holy fuck
