People poisoned by the current year eternal dogma shit for the last decade have framed the 2000s as "scary bad mean racist phobic times". That's now been over a decade of that narrative alongside the other contradictory ones that hype it up but like the fact I somehow was able to clock this as later 2000s internet art shit before i even saw the date says something. I'm too tired to put it into words now but there's a specific type of feeling we've lost these last 10 years in things. It goes back before the 2000s but my point is there's a certain something that rotted away.
Also I apparently fell unconcious days ago before sending this so that's fun.
The people that were praising it initially did so pretty much solely because of the character that got the little dedicated pronoun lecture segment every fucking piece of media has to have these days and how much it "andgered the right people" or whatever because there were black leads, something which nobody aside from the politically brain poisoned teamsports and maybe very racist actually give a shit about. You can't coast off that small bit of vapid hype forever. Surprised this thing got more listed "seasons" than a lot of more frequently talked about transformers TV shows but that's just the netflix original-ification of how shit's been produced I guess.
Since this is probably the last time Earthspark will be mentioned in a larger capacity, i'll go more in depth into my rant about this garbage series. Earthspark was never a good show and the people who compliment season 1 profusely only do this because of the LBBQ shit that was shoehorned into the show and the fact that the main human characters were black with some of the ugliest facial proportions i've seen for any CGI. Megatron becoming a good guy was lame and felt incredibly forced, there's no build up to this happening and we are supposed to be convinced that the relentless authoritarian leader of the Decepticons who firmly believed in his ideology one day just changed because he saw Optimus Prime doing "good things". One thing i've noticed and thought was weird and even kind of creepy is people talking about how they hate the human characters in transformers shows which by itself would be fine and not noteworthy; In the instance of Earthspark however, the malto family seems to be exempt from this. People talk about how they "love" the human characters in earthspark and how they're so much better written, and i know for a fact they only say this because they're forced diversity imports, not for anything else. Beyond that, the show from a aesthetic perspective looks awful, Earthspark genuinely has one of the most repulsive CGI artwork i've seen not just for a Transformers show, but possibly entertainment in general. Let's be real, if Earthspark's story by and large stayed the same, but the main human family was white and none of the lgbt pronouns were inserted, we wouldn't be seeing nearly as many people cry over the show's "downfall" or even how it's one of the best Transformers shows. Then there's the fact the animation's quality went into the shitter (keep the word shitter in mind, it will be relevant in just a bit), after season 1 and presumably because of the aftermath of the negative opinions the show garnered. So the original animation team was replaced and every subsequent season started getting a pitiful amount of episodes, going from 26 initially, to 10 and then a pathetic 8 and now what could barely considered a standalone season. But why did this happen? Did Hasbro and Paramount decide to fetch a inexperienced studio to save money? If you guessed that, you'd be partially correct, but the real reason why the show after season 1 degraded exponentially was because of this.
SAAR I MAAK GOOD ENTERTAINMENT FOR YOU SAAR, YES I WILL TAKE 50 CENTS FOR TO MAKE YOU THIS SHOW SAAR.
To be honest, there's nothing for me to weep over here and if anything, seeing the typical fags worshipping this septic show along with IDW as one of the best things in the TF franchise crying about the show's downfall has been a hilarious experience. Glad this show went the way it did and none were more deserving than Earthspark of this fate
It's because usually there's annoying human sidekick characters meant to be audience appeal characters which is a common thing in media that misses the point that the kids are there for the giant robots doing cool giant robot things and having giant robot life problems instead of "oh god are we gonna get the homework done?" type stuff crammed in with no connection. I think g1 transformers and a good few of the ones that included humans after that MOSTLY did the "glimpses into human characters lives" alright enough in a way where it's still remembered to this day but that's another ramble for another time.

The biggest issue with earthspark is that it's meant to be a quasi-sequel to g1 where megatron's reformed and the war is over and shit but it's also supposed to be kid's introduction TO the transformers. Transformers Animated did this exact thing minus megatron being reformed around nearly 2 decades back now, and much better too IMO because they make it clear the guys we're following aren't really the same guys as the g1 guys beast wars style (fuck 2 decades almost already help HELP)
I can't find the clip by itself anymore so I just timestamped the part on the official upload of the first episode.
I mean the writers also kinda did as well as the show went on but it's FINE
EDIT TO AVOID DOUBLEPOST, EXTRA SHIT: I watched that guy's video and the gripes seem to be tied to Hot rod being character assasinated and megatron and a bunch of other character's development over the shows time to be walked back on to make them "da bad gouy" which is shit yes but it's shit int he same current-yearism way that these kinds of people would otherwise eviscerate people as "alt right chuds" for viewing as shit. I'm surprised given how much people have made fun of hot rod over the years to the point the parody version of him became official in IDW comic stuff from what I've seen behavior wise and they loved that. I guess "space white man coolguy tryhard stereotype character bad" was their breaking point of acceptance which is very very funne. I MEAN IF EARTHSPARK HOT ROD IS LIKE IDW HOT ROD I'M NOT SURE IF HE IS OR NOT BECAUSE I'VE NEVER SEEN IT. IF I GET IT WRONG IT'S BECAUSE I DO NOT WISH TO SIT THROUGH THE WHOLE OF EARTHSPARK.
i like it when cybertronians are facinated by organic life, it is a good reversal of the usual going to space trope. what i do miss in that trope is when they would also find out disturbing things on earth, but that is hard to do when nearly nothing can harm them because of hoe they where build and their size.
was tarantulas in beast wars the only one who liked the creepy factor in insects?

Three are going to raise a fuss that what you ask it impossible and then make amazing things before the eyes of the world and Cybertron combined.
The other is Pipes.
Now with extra-extra-extra-extra large grousing.
And just because I wanna.

It looks like it was made by a teen goofing off with photoshop for the love of the game instead of some guy pressing out portfolio pieces for rags on xitter in hopes some mega corp will hire him. The bright white highlights, basic black to white flash gradient and exagerated anime lookin expressions that were popular at the time. Quite SOVLFVLL must I say.
I rambled about this a while back in the overpriced ebay listings thread but It's gotten weirdly even worse (or the algorithms just pushing the things more).
I keep seeing more and more ebay scalper listings for broken or beat up armada and energon figures. Now, if you brought this up anywhere else online there'd likely be someone butting in talking about how "oh well those are 20 years old and RARE and OBSCURE now because ba da ba ga ba [lists some sales statistics excusing price gouging]" but there comes a time where that ceases being a factor and you run into cartoonish greed territory. multiple copies of energon galvatron with all but the base robot skeleton ripped or dissasembled away being squatted on for almost 300 dollars each is far past that point in my opinion, especially when every few weeks or so you see one or two sanely priced listings of old figures pop up only to be bought off and relisted 500 because the broken ones are being charged for 300.
I might try and doing a custom figure again sometime, I think iI said that in the thread earlier but this stuff really got me thinking about that again. I had no urge to get any earthspark figures when they were being clearanced but I saw a 3d printed kit on some guy's website recently that converts earthspark megatron into fucking Gilthor. A few of my more recent figure purchases have been customs people made or parts and acrylic paints to make some various things I haven't yet managed to get the right kind of environment for making. We're reaching a point where I can get a much more pleasant experience from something like that than looking at the new releases I'll never be able to find ins tock or afford online, or stuff from when I was a kid that's now being gouged by people that don't care beyond the "value". Only issue there is I'm gonna have to be selective about what I post here in case I want to post elsewhere regarding customs. Right now I don't really have an elsewhere but in the case I ever did basic opsec would be to have different ones posted on different places.
Yes this turned into rambling I know but many stupid fucking thoughts about prices during a time when moneys fucking tighter than ever and I can't afford shit because prices are higher than ever and there was no significant discount on black friday aside from those fucking walmart two packs.
i think this might be a little bit too soon for Thundercracker, but at least the setup was there. Him being sentimental towards a human and letting him escape, feeling remorseful about Skywarp's destruction and not actively partaking in the Decepticon conquest was a good foundation for a genuine retribution. We already saw that Thundercracker was hesitant about the Decepticon's ideology. Question is if he will remain a Autobot or eventually return to being a Decepticon. There could also be potential for a Autobot to defect to the Decepticons.
