I kind of like how if I am seeing this right, Onslaught's body becomes a support frame for the legs. Maybe it's just me, but that sits right for some reason.
That's correct, it's just a strut for Swindle and Brawl to attach to, and they form the actual mass of the leg.
Edit: Realizing I misread your post. Yes the majority of Onslaught's trailer is just the arms, leg frames, and the back cannons. It's unclear if the chest plate is in the trailer or Onslaught's main body.
Even though I really hate this "combiners just latch onto a frame instead of actually becoming limbs is now the standard save for devastator who's a downscaled CW" thing (especially due to the pricing) At least this new bruticus actually is trying to make ok looking legs instead of "box with hollow window that you use a whole bot as filler for the back of but the spring door covers up the actual detail so you're paying 40 for closing a latch due to price hikes" the last two have done.

I think this is definitely the way to go with legs moving forward. You don't have to worry about accommodating combiner joints or having a very homogenous way to plug in, plus it's a way to add feet and provide structural support that CW combiners wished they had.
See, I'd see that as a plus if they were still 10-15 dollars per figure. We're in the territory now of below bare minimum deluxes being marked as voyagers charged at voyager price. Voyager price which is now the price leader was a few years ago.
In short, engineer the fucking joints and cross-combiner compatibility you lazy hacks. Also being back the hand articulation you had going for commanders.
Combiner wars' slightly floppy ratchets are NOTHING compared to paying several times the price for less.
I know it's weird to say but which version specifically? Like usually with the other main guys they have a consistent-ish characterization but with Bumblebee that kinda got wrenched in after they made him the "help my vocal chords were ripped out so now i have to sentence mix radio clips so people get what i'm trying to fucking say" kinda guy and since then it's either been "scout and/or rookie that gets in too deep on shit and is relatable to humans because he's like one of the main ones of the short guys of the crew" or "AAAAAA MY FUCKING LUNGS OOF OW AAARCH BWWWBWWWBWWOOO"
Anyways tangents aside this reminds me I found out they're doing a "SS gamer edition" bumblebee that's pretty much just a better less ropey looking g1 cartoon bumblebee figure compared to the recent ss86 one with the fucked up ankles.
Why the fuck is the one that's supposed to be a tie in for transformers devastation just the best g1 cartoon bumblebee appearance wise? Like I get why he's framed as devastation (the lower legs are yellow but some animation errors in g1 had that look unless I'm forgetting) but his proportions are the closest to a lot of g1 cartoon shots and he doesn't seem to have the nightmare backpack the MP from a few years ago going for the same thing did.

There's a lot over the years with some kinda thing you attach to the arm. I was more like specifically referring to which of the 2 major versions of the guy it is.
A few instances I've seen stuff kind of quasi-combine the two by either perma muting or temporarily muting him for a bit. Despite the extreme difference in some aspects there's still elements that tell you it's the same guy which is neat.

on my end they're next to each other but I'm guessing you mean the michael bay movie one where they did the "no vocal chords" thing the first time. I still have my figures from when the movie came out well over a decade back somewhere in the house but I'd need to find them and probably dust them off after getting them out of whatever box or shelf they've been stuck away in for however many years.
I remember the one I really liked was from a 2 pack of both his alt modes from the movie and had a weird hair trigger on the spring loaded auto-transform on his chest so he'd sometimes explode.
I can't remember if I ever managed to get the one in that other image but it was from around the same time period despite being a re-imagining of the g1 cartoon bumblebee. Kinda miss that "really detailed for teens/adults and durable for kids" phase of design philosophy they were doing during pretty much the entirety of the 2000s.
jesus the way those arms attach looks infinitely rougher IRL
I think it's because they copied the menasor arm gimmick again for a guy that's arms are formed of his vehicles so it's really fucked wide nonsense kibble.
I thought the head was too small but in retrospect it was the shittily designed arms doing that visual. he'd look better without them. CW bruticus will continue to be my one combiner aside from the secondhand devastator I still need to clean off a bit more... Unless I get the UW devastator for cheap-ish off someoen selling theirs to make way for the official downscale when I have money.
How many of them are grumpy? How many of them are impatient? How many of them are trigger happy? How many are complaining it can't be done and then does it anyway? What is the macho level of some combined? And how many are huggy mascot little bros?
These are the questions of our time.
Do they got any of them universal studios megatrons? Every time I see something actually good at ollies I always miss it before resellers yank em all and we're left with more shelf space filled by the same star wars and marvel shit of the last 8 years.
The universal transformers figures despite being universal exclusive were online retailer exclusive too for a little bit but they aren't anymore so scalpers have been charging 80-150 for the fucking things makes me ANGRY MAN

i got commander prime yesterday and i love him. it is a very complex voyager plus, and the trailer is a big box of nothing but dammit, he's perfect. good i got him on amazon for 30 bucks off.
that said, the amount of matrixes these days is getting out of hand, i should be looking how many prime or prime like figures got one now, but i'm afraid to not know what one goes with what figure as it is exactly the same mold from earthrise onward.
hell, even galvatron has one!
