For me since I was a kid it was ALWAYS the Constructicons, because they were the OG, and characters like Scrapper and Hook were more personalized them most of the members of all the teams. Well... except one.

The constructicons have some of the best induvidual characterization compared to others, they can work both as a team and as induvidual decepticons.

Probably because all the Scramble City guys are just the one bot and his limbs that kind of hang around until it's time to work. No one is the "main part" of Devastator, besides maybe Hook cause he forms the head. Devastator is his own character, Superion is just a bigger Silverbolt, Bruticus is just a bigger Onslaught, etc.

Odd how they took those toys that could connect to Metroplex in Japan and did this to them. I guess they didn't have any other figures to use. Something bothers me about that but I can't place it.

It says my used prime arrived, but I don't see the box. Will edit/update the post if I did get him. EDIT: HE IS HERE.

Also I was thinking of getting the MD-005 at some point but everyewhere that carries thatone now charges around the same price as buying the 90 dollar real one. AStoys has a slightly less intense accessory kit with the trailer I could easily split the price of with the astoys one but it's not even 100% the same which is interesting. the AStoys optimus has different sculpting in some areas and apperently is too tight in some but I haven't gotten it. I guess I'll just try my luck once I get money of some kind

Retro Deluxe Wheelie, he's a new mold

TRA-GEN-RETRO-WHEELIE_dfc9e993-035f-4606-be6b-4f08d8c3461e.8279556645ab41f2ccf8d5ff781563a0.webp
They should've tried making a wheelie based ont he g1 toy's look... I guess that's just gonna be for the eventual "missing link" one that'll be upmarked to 100 like all of them are becoming quickly.

EDIT: That reminds me, one of the first actually affordable pre-orders for a third party figure in a while is one that I set up a few months ago of that third party ss86 wheelie retooled into fucking JET JAGUAR of all things.

I think this was already posted a while back in the thread but this is such a cool figure.

I know with the arrival of 86 Prime a lot of people act like ER Prime sucks now, but I still like it a lot. Well, the cab at least. The trailer feels like cheap dollar store level trash.
ER prime's first paintjob sucked because it was a last second change and it showed. The earthrise line in general was marked by all that nonsense, worst offenders were prime and the quintesson from the box set IMO

I can't find the oldest ER prime images from before they photoshopped the hands blue but this really does show how night and day it is.

A big show of how last minute the change was is how the blue used on prime paint wise is all this really dark shiny metallic blue paint that's nowhere else on the figure save for the back of his head for some reason. It's still a great figure otherwise (price bump excuse trailer aside)

I'm not gonna pull out my netflix one to take pics of it (right now) but the netflix promo walmart wave version of ER prime looks fucking incredible exactly because of how his color scheme's coherent and doesn't skimp out on the center yellow square for no apparent reason.

Didn't really have one myself, but as usual, Decepticon combiners are usually more interesting and awesome to me. Probably will get the AOTP Combaticons for how precise they are to their original cartoon iteration. One of these days i'd also like to obtain Liokaiser, but the haslab didn't impress me even fractionally and 3rd party creators rarely make figures of Japanese characters.

My issue with Autobot combiners tends to be the fact that they often use the same colors and their designs seem to intertwine with one another. Compared to Decepticon combiners which have more varied colors and designs, where you can instantly recognize which one is Devastator, Bruticus, Menasor, Predaking, Abominus and Liokaiser. I swear sometimes i still get Superion and Defensor mixed up

That's weird considering defensor is blue and made of completely different vehicles.

I'm not gonna be able to afford any of the new combiners, that price point wa slong passed when they made the torso bots "commanders" due to giving them a limb/combined mode trailer that ages ago would have bumped them up to a leader class. it doesn't feel liek it's been NINE FUCKING YEARS since I managed to complete the ONE combiner wars combiner (bruticus lmao) I was able to get due to them all being on discount, something you rarely fucking see anymore. Shits been scary stagnant and fast time wise, hell this years almost over too!

Anyways The reason I decided to check in on this thread tonight is just venting I guess about how fucking BORING the "fixes" people propose for various transformers shit is.

Nothing specific I was literally just trying to look up reference images on image search for various figures that are scalped to hell i was thinking of trying making some form of bootleg custom representative of via trying to get back into sculpting stuff (I'm not the best, no expert, no actual computer printing shit at my disposal either but I could do something maybe). I want to know WHY THE FUCK is every "fix" for a decepticon character these people find "obscure and weird/silly" to go "Their new origin should be that their a loyal decepticon general from [INSERT IDW NOT-CYBERTRON PLANET HERE]" or just some other complete barebones shit that's just basically removing any interesting quirks from their bio/background. Guy made as a doppleganger clone for megatron that in some versions went schizo and had a splinter personality that thought he was megatron? Nah he's "a loyal decepticon general that just modelled himself after megatron". Characters with passing resemblances to others with a goofy g1 type origin of shockwave or wheeljack building some new transformer out of spare shit they had lying around? Nah nah "loyal autobot/decepticon soldier that modelled themselves after their leader who now talks like what a redditor thinks a noble soldier would talk like instead of the actual character" Fucking BORING.

Like transformers has some really fucking cool concept shit in the figure background bios sometimes. There's a black repaint of Rodimus prime that LOOKS like he'd just be "nemesis rodimus" or whatever but no, he's "menasor" and his background is that the stunticons were fatally wounded and they grafted them together in a new body which unlike combining normally leads to what's more or less schizo shit.
Experimental mechanics may have successfully unifed the gestalt frame of Menasor into a while physical creature, but no level of shell programming or kernel restructuring has been able to modify his fractured mind. Constructed from the bodies of the five Decepticon warriors who once combined to form him, he is nearly indestructible. He is the ultimate in state-of-the-art destructive capabilities, driven by an almost mindless rage at the psychic agony that constantly torments him.

The dominant personality within him is that of the former leader of the Stunticons, Motormaster. Hated by his teammates, he nevertheless exercised an iron-fisted control over the team - a control that slipped only once the five found themselves unified in Menasor. Even now, hardwired into the command network of the new body, he withstands a constant mental assault from the suppressed personalities of his four underlings. As a result, Menasor, who should be the ultimate weapon, is little more than a destructive monster, incapable of following a plan, and desirous of nothing more than to smash everything around him.

Not part of the bio but he looks like this by the way for context

yeah
If these people got in on writing he'd just be "rodimus but unicron or something and loyal"

Your entire rant here resonates with me and also reminds me of people saying that official Japanese media like Supergod Masterforce and Zone not being "real Transformers", when the franchise used to be much more creative and surprising with what type of story it would tell you. I think another problem is that people these days are also creatively bankrupt, so they recycle the same easy format with any nuance dissolved. The same people who trash on the Japanese side of things and even the Bayverse, are the same group of people who collectively are entranced by lbbq romance and IDW's awful stories and say that's the REAL Transformers. No matter the distance, you can always hear the soy and fatrolls in their mouth when they talk about garbage uninspired stories and characters with the same stories that never evolve and declare that it should be the blueprint for anything Transformers related in the future.
