It's so he's the same height as Blaster.

I remember that being one of the advertised things about it being "better" for but it ends up looking weird as a result because blaster is sculpted like he's a bit taller and his head is scaled to emphasize that feeling. Soundwave being ever so slightly shorter than blaster being the major issue people had is really odd to me givent hey were still around the same height as each other. Still as a result this scales better with everything that came before the new "updated scale" they're now trying to go with for ss86 figures that aren't repaints.
It's blurry as hell whenever I try not using the flash today again so you'll have to deal with the slightly scuffed up custom paint on my secondhand third party megatron's face that's only really noticable when the camera flash is on.
I think this megatron's also roughly the height of kingdom/ss86 blaster but I don't own the figure . I personally like this scale but I'd also like the scale of them being the same height as each other. It's mainly just him being paired up against blaster as the same height that's weird to me. Anyways half a head shorter than megatron is better than a head and a half shorter.
Also I noticed he doesn't seem to have the hinge that lets you angle up the gun the siege/earthrise/legacy soundwaves have which is unfortunate if that's the case. I'm REALLY glad though that this new soundwave didn't skimp on the red lines and shit like the netflix and legacy releases did.
EDIT: fuck how the hell did my soundwaves window get scratched? i just noticed the small but extrremely noticable little gashes in his chest. Never bumped him against anything and he never fell off any shelf like the other figures have, so this is new.
EDITX2
Back pylon paint damage I edited into the earlier post while half awake after I bumped into it causing it to fucking fall down and bounce into the wooden door is extremely averse to being photographed but you can kind of see it here with the flash on, just barely.
it's the white bit on the backmost left upper side of it, and the white line coming down the side of the foreground.
