If i remember correctly a few of you guys thought I was a cis guy trolling last time I posted. So I know that this is absolutely transphobia that I'm experiencing. -sigh-

The pharmacist KNOWS I've transitioned. Sees the name and gender marker. Greets me full bearded broad shoulder cis looking guy as I'll be right with you ma'am I mean sir. How are you doing? What's your new name again?

I mean your holding my id.

Let me check if we have the right name and pro nouns in here. It might not pass insurance if we have the wrong letter here. All it takes is a wrong m or I mean a wrong f and it can deny your whole script.
This lady has gone far enough to deny a diabetic medication because they had the wrong identity marker in the system. She made fake calls to my insurance company in front of me to tell me they only have an Annamarie in their system not a Danh. I'm handing her an insurance card that says Danh and a photo id that says Danh both with a nice little m under gender.

She also puts a mask on every time I come to the counter but not for other customers.

I'm stuck using this pharmacy. ( At least for the time being. ) How would you all deal with this?

Danh? Nice cultural appropriation there, pooner. Danh is a 45 year old manlette married to a TIM, and frequently posts on crocheting and sewing. She and her husband have probably broken that pharmacist’s brain over the years.

Narrow forehead, broader mid-face, small chin. Longer skulls overall, proportionality. Again speaks to the fact that some sort of recurring developmental pathway (or multiple ones) do appear to be related to autism, despite the broadening and devaluation of all those diagnoses.

Which is what makes stuff like the above so ridiculous. Yes, there is a chance that 2 observed patterns of thinking and behavior that seem to be directly correlated across the population have some sort of causal link. In any sane practice of medicine, this would be interrogated as the central hypothesis for trans ideation, with the caveat that it can also act via the same sort of social contagion/normative pathways as anorexia, so could affect others via exposure to the though patterns. It is willful blindness on the part of medecine and society to not make this link for fear of invalidating the purely intangible "gender identities" of people who can't even articulate why they feel the way they do when pressed by congress,

Keep in mind that gender norms have evolved over millenia and in the absence of this bullshit have never been challenged minus a few uprisings here and there. Now all of a sudden because some troons might be offended we can't say a woman being pregnant, we have to say pregnant people and shit.

The social construct can work the other way too. If everything is a social construct then we could push back on troons and say they are not socially acceptable.

Embarrassing childhood memories: going on roadtrips and the parents stopping the car by the side of the road so us kids could take a piss. My brother was fine and could piss where he wanted to, but us girls had to squat behind the open car door because we were worried that we'd get bitten on the arse by a snake or have green ants or meat ants run up our legs if we went into the bush or long grass. I would have killed for a STP in those moments. This was pre internet shopping, however, so behind the car door we hid. Strangely, we all survived these traumatic experiences.

If one accepts words have meanings, "social construction" doesn't mean total control of reality through positive thinking.

There was once a legitimate serious anthropological point (that didn't deny biology) about gender roles (not sex or gender itself) being socially constructed. Still debatable of course, but not stupid or trivial.

And it didn't have any reference at all to current year troonery.

This is a broad topic to cover, but a summary point is that social constructs may exist only in human brains, but that doesn't mean there isn't an underlying material basis or social utility to them. The Calendar is a social construct, 7 day weeks seem to come out of Middle Eastern culture and their observation of the visible planets, but until the conversion to Christianity and the need for a 7 day sabbath cycle, Rome used an 8 day week that had the planet days + an extra market day on the end. There are two ways you can use this information. One is trying to understand social constructs in the particular social, material and especially economic context they were generated in (for example, work specialization between the sexes has a lot more relevance in a society that is composed of farming households than it does in one composed of office workers). Two, and I call this path rationalism poisoning, is to conclude that your are the most perfect rational being and establish a new calendar based on 10, with 3 week months, 10 day weeks, 10 hour days, and 100 minute hours. And when the public hates it and it isn't used at all in favour of the old system, conclude that they are the ones with the problem, because it's all a social construct!

That's what this whole gender social construct argument is, saying "did you realize that words only have definitions because we collectively decide they do" and then going "Therefore whatever I decide is just as good, no, superior, to what the entire rest of society thinks".

Sex-segregated spaces and sports are also a social construct. If troons are women, there's no need for that segregation, we should instead segregated on some sort of observable variance in risk level and performance between sub populations of humans, some sort of broad, possibly bimodal distribution of variables that all humans fall into. It's a shame we don't have a (social constructed) word for that (anymore).
