Sounds like this guy is extremely immature and maybe mildly autistic and was groomed online during lockdown. Reading through the comments he seemed to genuinely think he'd get a real vagina rather than a sweaty hole that he has to constantly wash and dilate. He says he thought he'd only have to dilate and "at first". How is operating on such an uninformed patient even remotely ethical?

The thing that always gets me about these narratives is how obviously it mimics addiction or obsession. If, upon sober reflection and a real understanding of the pros and cons, The truth that they will never be a biological version of the opposite sex, somebody still wanted to go through with sex reassignment surgery, I would still think it was a bad idea, but I could almost respect it.

But these people are always rushing into it immediately, and believing absurdly that this is the one thing that will fix everything in their lives. So many of them frame it as literally that they will start living, they will start being developed human beings when they get their surgery. It's a type of childish fantasy that really points to poor emotional maturity and a sort of naivete about the world. I realized a lot of these people are young, though not all, but I do not think I was this dumb in my twenties. Maybe because I moved out? Is it arrested development that allows this sort of childish fixation where you don't have to worry about how to live and exist?

I realized how complicit the psychiatric industry is in this, but if I was listening to this person talk, I would tell him that he needs to seriously examine why he thinks that this one surgery would be what allows him to self-actualize. A fixation like that is obviously a coping mechanism, it's exactly like all the men and women who believe that getting into a relationship will suddenly make them better people. It's fixation on a fantasy to avoid the hard work of actually doing things today.

I’m happy that they’re taking themselves out of the gene pool, but it pisses me off when the NHS wastes time and resources on these assholes.

The NHS is on its knees. A friend of mine’s elderly father just spent three days in a bed in a corridor at our local hospital because there wasn’t any space in A&E.

I’ll help out by performing any gender affirmation surgery in my shed with my husband’s power tools. Can’t be much worse than what they usually get.

It’s more likely they need desk fodder. There are a lot of jobs in the military doing narrowly defined specific administrative tasks. Or jobs keeping mess halls running or checking badges at the door. The vast majority are not going to be on the front lines. They just have a lot of desk chairs that need asses in them

The greatest thing is that it ensures that no one in the industry who sees this is going to touch a MtF "journalist" after seeing meltdowns like this, especially since he specifically links his tantrums to not getting enough worship as a sacred Trans Woman. Even if they have trans diversity quotas to fill, they'll hire some battered FtM to work in an admin role.

My mom has always worn this one baseball cap in the car to keep the sun out of her eyes, and it gets sweaty. She washed it in the dishwasher once, and it made all the dishes smell sweaty too. No idea why she didn't use the washing machine, she probably did after that. I remember asking "Why does this fork smell like mom's hat?" (this became an inside joke in our family). I am imagining an extremely cursed scenario where some unfortunate family member or housemate has to inquire why their dinnerware smells like death and rotten fish.
