I've herd of that story, and its once again a case where they're taking an intersex condition that has nothing to do with being transgender. If the female lion had a male lion brain then they'd have a point.Again, if TRAs can prove a case of any animal (especially a mammal) that was born male but has a female brain or vice versa then they'd have a strong argument to prove both transgenderism and gender identity to be a real biological condition. Otherwise, how are humans the only animals that have some how evolved in such a way to where gender identity became a real thing, and when exactly did it appear and how?

I've heard about this phenomenon in cows called "freemartins" - a female calf who's a dizygotic twin with a male calf. All freemartins have a male twin. Something about the shared intrauterine environment causes the female calf to not develop normally, so at maturity you get a masculinized, sterile, female cow.

Sometimes the most dominant hen in an all-female chicken flock will develop roosterish characteristics, like an enlarged comb and wattle, spurs, may begin crowing. IIRC this isn't the hen undergoing a sex change, and her eggs are still fertile, it's an epigenetic adaptation.

I don't think animals have a gender identity, apart from behavior like squatting to pee vs. raising a leg. I do not think most animals are capable of understanding the difference between genders, let alone a desire to cross over and become the other gender.

The troons I see in the wild at the gym always looked wildly uncomfortable to be there. They'd go to all the girly group fitness classes (like Barre) and make weird faces the whole time. They also changed in a stall to avoid having anyone actually see them unclothed. For the most part I just felt bad for them, as the gym had no alternative to choosing either a male or female locker room, and while the women's might have been mildly hostile, the men's locker rooms at Equinox Chestnut Hill were a known zone for faggots to come onto each other in the steam room. I had a male friend who worked there as a massage therapist - he was told once to offer 10-minute chair massages in the men's locker rooms and he flatly refused, because too many men would come onto him in there.

Your high school years are critical for developing social skills, and when these people decide to transition they recoil and become introverted and self loathing.
