The troonshine recipes I've seen don't use solvent at all, just an alcohol preservative and MCT oil.

Dogs and cats can suffer extreme complications from heat cycles that don't result in babies, I think in cats it goes up 20% each cycle or so. You also run the enormous risk of uterus or prostate cancer the longer you leave them in tact.

Its always surprising what will make kiwis angry. My first dog died at 19 from jaw cancer, wasn't castrated, my second is 11 years old, more than the average for its breed and is still in good health. Why does it make you angry that i didn't cut their balls off? i don't give a shit what you do to your dogs. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the breeding industry wanting to make more money, no sir. Trust the science.

It's up to individual owners. All the males in our family (we traditionally keep GSDs) are generally left intact, but one ended up getting the chop for aggression later in life, and another developed testicular cancer very late in life. Our personal experience is that males are generally better guard dogs if they're intact, but it makes no difference to the females. The risk of cancer is much, much higher in females when it comes to cats and dogs, so our females are always desexed after their first heat cycle.

It's a personal choice, but if you do start keeping females, it's definitely a good idea to have them desexed. As well as avoiding cancer, you won't have to worry About them digging a hole under the fence and escaping, only to come back three days later with a dopey grin and a belly full of puppies .

They are, in fact, at higher risk of infections and even various cancers if they don't get busted in and get preggers.

Noone is telling you that your toadline bully (male) will get pussy cancer, unless yours rubs off on him. But if you got bitches, unless you're trying to breed them, you got to get them neutered.

You can still get it via the usual lab chemical catalogues as of a few years ago (ours also had pure heroin but you needed a loixence for that…) it’s used in spectroscopy. Didn’t they used to use it in lava lamps as well and heating/cooling systems?
