Interesting take. Nearly every single Total War YouTuber seems to hate it for not having the conveniences of the newer games.
The only dumb thing I've noticed is the pathing is pretty bad on battles, and that's not a deal breaker.

I legit don't get the crying.

I think most of them have become attached to the Warhammer games. I dont blame them, the other new games have been shit.

The only WH game I played was the first one. I just didn't get on with it and I'm not entirely sure why. I like both TW and WHF, but the game seemed gimmicky and sterile. Like I said in my wall of text post on the last page, it feels like a theme park, dragging you by the nose from one "cool bit" to another. That's fine for some games (shooters, Uncharted-style adventure games) but for strategy games I find it really annoying. A sandbox experience where you can try different strategies or do gimmick/challenge runs once you've mastered it, that's my idea of a good time.

I haven't really liked a TW game since Medieval 2 (which I got relatively recently). I tried Empire looking for a more old-school experience, but it was horribly unstable, the naval combat was boring and confusing, and the AI in both the strategy and RTS bits was dumb as rocks, even by the standards of an older TW game.

Those people are gay retards. I've not seen much of that myself though, but I guess the Youtubers I watch (Many a True Nerd, Lugotorix, LegendofTotalWar) are all hardcore fans of the old games like me so the remaster is right up their street.

Playing Rome TW Remastered. Better textures, some extra features like merchants (found in Medieval 2), but mainly a heavily re-designed interface. Some things I dislike, like getting the building browser is harder than opening a portal to another dimension, but features like idle assets are very useful. I do also like the city view, but by default the plans are identical, with only the setting and improvements varying. It's good too the files are the same text files - I never mastered file editing in later TW games.

I already had Rome total war, but it ran like shit for some reason so I got the remaster. Was expecting Rome total war but pretty. instead the improvements to the strategy map ai really made it more engaging. It felt very fun actually having to defend cities with more than a token garrison of peasants and town militia on my frontier.

What I want to know about the remaster is did they keep the meme of Bronze age Egypt and its chariots destroying armies in auto battles?

They kept Bronze Age Egypt but I think they nerfed Chariots somewhat. They now potentially frenzy.

The remaster was nice, though with the battle AI and pathfinding, it really just shows how much Total War has improved
One thing I wish they added was a multiplayer campaign. I want to play with my friends with more options than a quick batlle

There's a few nerfs, many of which are directly to Egypt though I don't think it contains KANG death trains taking over huge swathes of the east. One big thing I know was added is they made Numidian Legionnaires have actual respectable morale so they actually have something useful to build to and can operate an actual front line in MP. Rome remains an unstoppable juggernaut.

They added pretty much everything they possibly could to modernize it a bit while keeping the feel of the old game, what did they want? Faggot shit like units replenishing automatically? Naval combat?

I like the Warhammer games, but they've ruined the fanbase on some level. They've taken over all discussion of the series and some people really want every Total War game to be almost exactly like Warhammer. Only a Medieval 3 announcement can save us.

New trailer dropped for WH3. Gameplay reveal tomorrow.
The 3 at the end is kinda freaking me out. I dont want anther DoW3. Has there ever been a trilogy of Warhammer video games where each one was good?

Survival battles look gimmicky and I'm not really sure how they would work out. Do you not bring a full army into the realm of chaos or is it in case you didn't? I guess I am thankful that conquering chaos isn't going to be a series of siege battles with barely functional AI.

They claimed to be aiming to fix sieges in 3 but I'm not going to hold my breath. This looks a lot more like the Kislev/Order side of the campaign's quest battles. They've had something like this with the Errantry Wars battles with Bretonnia and other DLC factions so it would track for this to be what it is. Chances are Chaos side has to fight in some major Kislevite and Canthan cities.

From guys who got to play the demo and ask questions, it's basically a quest battle for Kislev/Cathay exclusively. It will be playable in multiplayer where you can pretty much bring in any army you want though. Also said for multiplayer that there is going to be a new mode called domination, where you have to hold objectives against another player and can bring in other units mid match for adjustment.

Hoping that info becomes a bit more frequent in the coming weeks/months.

Are they planning to integrate 3 with the first two for a truly massive world conquest campaign?
