In this retarded era of demakes, where is my Empire remake? Damn you, CA.
Feral did port Empire (and M2) to mobile and fixed up things but also added new content. Still no word if we will get these things on PC as well. I don't believe we will get a remake of that game.

Big CA stream coming up. News about M3 and WH40K. Also on the list is a talk about CA revisiting some older games to update them, first on the list for some reason Rome 2. Last but not least WH3. News about the first (lol) DLC of the year and further infos about the End Times. If I had to guess End Times will be pushed back to the holidays or next year.

Empire 2 would be too based for our gay modern world. Personally I'd extend the base game's tech tree into the 1850's (ironclads, Minie rifles, and various rare and expensive breechloading rifles as the absolute late game) with DLC into the 1860's, including a US Civil War one similar to the Rome 2 DLC campaigns with the Eastern half of North America, the Caribbean and Northern Mexico, so you'd have the USA, CSA, British Empire, French Empire, Mexican Republic, and Spanish Empire all around as playable majors for that.

A Friend actually got me it at some point for me I should try it

I think vanilla Empire despite being "rough around the edges" is a fun and good game without any mods. But it's also great with mods.
I never got much into the earlier entries but Empire/Shogun 2/FotS are all generally solid without much help needed, even though their formations are really jank when it comes to lining up properly for shooting. If your replacements in the back don't move up properly the whole formation's firing sequence can glitch out and refuse to trigger unless you issue a move order, which is a pretty big deal, and unfortunately platoon firing is just plain worse than fire by rank in terms of jank, accuracy and rate of fire, and how morale and casualties interact with each other. Its better to do a big load of damage every so often instead of spaced out instead of a steady trickle since you're more likely to get a big morale shock from the "Recent casualties" penalty that way.

Empire also has some unbelievable broken underlying decision-making algorithm when it comes to the melee combat. Soldier just stand around until they get assigned an opponent, so the game can play the nice motion capture stuff. I remember getting incredibly frustrated when the game came out because it was completely unreliable. Shogun and Fots are better in this regard, but you can still see when the game cant decide what to do next.

Earlier entries are more comparable with the Warhammer stuff. Rome is just Whac-A-Mole and M2 is a mix between motion capture and just slapping people.

They are very nice animations when they play at least.

I honestly can't play Empire without at least MFR as it's the most "vanilla-like" mod, there's just too many things that are still hopelessly broken and frustrating, like the infamous AI bug where turns start to take an insane amount of time to end unless you take out the Ottomans because they just keep sending 1 stacks to and fro across the Bosporus. Though like with any other game I'd recommend people first start playing completely vanilla and then find what they like and dislike about the game so that they can easily find mods that they'd like.

That is the best way to approach any game. Empire is just nostalgic for me, so I sometimes jump into vanilla to witness the sheer bullshit that the game likes to display. But if I want to play an entire campaign or until I lose interest again I tend to go with DarthMod most of the time.

Still no release date for "both" WH3 DLC's lol

But I have to give some credit to CA for including this in the upcoming End Times DLC and Patch:

Woaw, a forum post as a topic on the road map. Lol, lmao even.

How many road maps has CA released that amounted to basically nothing? These roadmaps mean nothing and will basically be forgotten once those dates are reached. Then they release a new road map and they kick the can further down the road.

The truth is that if you still believe CA's horseshit, you are nigger cattle and deserve to be fleeced and fucked in the mouth with all those "premium DLC".

I haven't bought any of their DLC in years. Cream API, bitch.

Maybe it rubs the wrong way - but you have Todbringer as a semi-generic lord already in the game. Can't play as him in campaign but he's there. Feels a bit cheeky to have him as pay-to-play. Could have done someone like Kurt Helborg or someone like that (should still add him as a Cav lord and Schwarzhelm as a Hero.

But then again I am pretty out of the loop with Warhammer 3 and what the community wants.

So the big Rome 2 changes involve... rebalancing battles and the campaign in a minor way while breaking all mods as a result. God knows if these rebalance changes will even be good, they talked about adding Empire Divided's sanitation system to all campaigns but that sanitation system is pure shit, literally every settlement has de facto one slot less in Empire Divided because they had the bright idea of NOT making it so that one building can provide sanitation to the entire province (like Attila), instead it only provides it to the city it's built in.

BRAVO CA!

On one hand, it's rather impressive to have an update for a game released in 2013...
if it didn't break all the mods and will most likely have a few fun bugs

So, uh, 40KTW?
I take it they've resolved their towering, cloud-piercing, stratosphere-reaching mountain of technical debt? Finally reworked their unit pathfinding (gotta have it just work in a game where units might have to utilize cover or enter buildings present on the map or whatever), made a proper CPU opponent instead of just adding "difficulty" by giving enemy units massive buffs and so on?

BTW, is it a "my machine" thing, or is sea combat in Shogun 2 still broken as all hell? Like, the AI gives their ships a grand total of three orders over the course of one naval fight. Is there a mod that fixes it? I've abandoned my legendary campaign because of that. Yes, it makes the naval stuff which lets you control trade routes piss easy, but the battles themselves are such a slog to play through because of it. Boils down to dodging the enemy fleet on the initial engagement and then wasting 15-20 minutes sniping their ships one by one as they get stuck on the edges of the map.

I'm following TW:40k only to see how much a mess CA is going to make of it.

If I wanted a proper 40k RTS game, that's DOW4.

It really is odd having both in development at the same time.
I will likely be getting both as I love RTS games.
