My personal theory is that CA is butthurt about Valve and Steam taking their cut and are slowly trying to move away from that company. This is absolutely stupid, but it is CA
I assume that some companies used mod.io for their main, in game mod manager because they were shipping to consoles, consoles need a in game mod manager due to their nature, however, the people managing and dictating decisions didn't understand this, or decided that wholy controlling the modding space was enticing, so they decided to implement only mod.io for the same reason.

I see absolutely no reason why you would lock modding exclusively to mod.io unless you want to control modding in a certain way.

I was incredibly hyped when I saw the announcement for the Complete Edition.
The first gameplay I saw completely evaporated any hope I had for this to be good, it is just the game put through the AI mill to upscale it, that is literally it.

Everything they "added" already existed as a mod or could not be fixed by modders due no access to the source code, and I am willing to bet my money on it that modders could have done better whatever they added like the 64-bit, 4K UI, etc.

CA and SEGA are a fucking joke and should be nuked, especially CA's head janitor Joshua Williams, the smug nigger faggot.

We are not the ones that have to pay the Hyenas tax to reimburse them burning 100 million dollaroos and the tax they are trying to make us bear with shit like this is like a kick in the nuts and spitting in your eye, and while their reputation was already in the gutter it is surely going in the sewers now.

He is accusing Gudea of plagiarizing bug criticism of the game from people who did even not have the game and for changing his mind in response to a negative reaction to his previous positive videos.
I noticed nearly every active and inactive TW-tuber came out of the woodwork to absolutely dunk and shit on this game.

People who were given free copies of the game like Okoii left highly negative public reviews on Steam while we have plenty of reason to believe CA told him to shill the game.

I have seen a lot of issues and dramas in the past with CA releases like the Pharaoh release a few years back, but none of that even scratches the surface compared to how people who do not even like eachother are now rallying under the same flag to kick in CA's shit.

They can't really hope for Loremaster of Soytek and similar Warhammertubers to jump into the breach because they are out of their element when it comes to historical TW titles.

We should get a bingo ready when they do some apology video, I'm betting on the likes of 'we can do better', 'Bad communication' and 'It will be free for all previous owners of original Shogun2'.

I am so fucking tired of publishers removing original releases of video games for the1 "remastered" version. So long as this continues to happen, than I can only say that Roger Ebert was right: video games can never be art.

Well, lucky us, actual smart use of AI will allow modders to do whatever they want with the Shogun 2 code, so I fully expect all the new additions of the Complete Edition to be implemented into the original game, and even more things to be added.

The disaster that is the Complete Edition will light a fire under every Shogun 2 modder out there to prove they can do better than CA (not a high bar, mind you) and we will all benefit from it.

And if anyone thinks that's not likely, one guy is adding an actual globe as the map in Empire, and enabling amphibious assaults ala Rome 2 in the Empire engine.

The days of modders being limited by not having access to the source code are a thing of the past.

I really, really hope this is true, and if so we have effectively entered the Bethesda-age of Creative Assembly where modders make a game more worthwhile to play than the actual vanilla game itself.

If anything, I hope they do it just to take steaming pile of shit on CA, on the other hand the game being completely ignored is the best reason for CA to revert back to the normal game and relist it.

Mate, you need to throw away any preconceived notions of modding you may have, we've entered into a completely new era for the hobby.

And this has only been going on for a month or two, with the release of more and more powerful models games will stop being a product and become a platform for you to do whatever you want in them.

Modders have already done for REX and M2EX what CA should've done, especially when REX is compared to Rome Demastered. A 64-bit version of the game with modern controls for those who aren't uncs like me who have played the games since the release, some other light QOL improvements, AI improvements and all limitations of the old engine completely removed, which should be a godsend for modders.

CA's resident nigger faggot Josh has started their apology tour on r/totalwar a few minutes ago.

Rightfully getting chewed out by the community.

I can stamp my 'we can do better' bingo already seeing that they said '...Complete Edition has fallen short of both your expectations and our own...'

They are actively discussing extending refund duration with platforms like Steam, lol.

Funnier even is that they are saying to be 'working closely with our development partner to identify the causes of these problems...' as if they weren't told a billion times before the game even launched it was full of bugs old and new, even this guy who mailed a comprehensive buglist to MATABOO being sent away to tell SEGA instead and getting ghosted by an automatic response.

Edit: SEGA dropped a statement

They fucking deserve this brutalizing given that bullshit with ripping the original game away.

Keep in mind, these retards decided to burn most of their liquidity into a fucking looter shooter that was a genuinely terrible idea. If these testaments to why birth control should exist go bankrupt then there's no sympathy on my part.

Heres my apology bingo prediciton: After they "fixed" the demaster, everyone who owns the OG will get it for free.

They need to put in so much work to fix this fucking mess, just drop it and patch the OG game. Every time CA and whoever else is involved fucks up I am surprised, we have been doing this song and dance for years now. Like at some point there have to be ramifications for this mishandling of their company.

Maybe this time something will happen since SEGA put out a statement, the Japs probably have been sharpening their wakizashi's since the Hyenas fiasco.

Total Warfags will act like this vidya franchise is something special despite it being carried solely by a formula that was invented 26 years ago.
It is special because nobody managed to replicate their success, especially when they first really fumbled fucking hard with Empire. Strategy kinda losing its edge during that time did its part and now they are the weird uncle at the family table.

I think it's a widespread issue in the industry, outside of a few select genres, and barring the odd indie dev, competition is mostly dead.

Companies like Bethesda or CA have their niches that nobody seems particularly interested in trying to break into, despite the fact the companies that hold the defacto monopoly are universally hated, incompetent and haven't release a good product in more than a decade.

I've mentioned it elsewhere but the only games that kinda scratch that Total War itch for me are certain Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Nobunaga's Ambition games, such as Sphere of Influence, and even then the battles are much more simplistic than in TW and the strategic element is much more complex, so people who like TW aren't guaranteed to enjoy it at all. CA cornered the market when it came to grand strategy games with a simple turn-based strategic component mixed with a more complex real-time tactical component.

The fact that nobody in 20 fucking years came close to replicating it, or even attempting to, is insane. At best you have games like Strategos which do copy the real-time tactical component and add a bit of a spin to it, but the campaigns are just a series of battles like how they are in the Field of Glory games for example. Then there's Tabletop Tavern which is a roguelike with Total War battles. It is super fun and I recommend it. However, the kind of free-form sandbox of TW's campaign are just as much of a selling point as its battles, so having one without the other really doesn't do it for me.

CA continually causing problems for SEGA is very funny to me. I saw that official sega twitter apology tweet and I just know some japanese exec is blowing a gasket right now because of these British fucks. I'd love to see a full audit of CA in terms of cost/profit for sega. Side tangent but has anyone played any of the end times campaigns? Is the nagash campaign cooler than the mod campaign? Haven't played since before tides of torment. Was hoping vampire coast would get some love from nagash update but doesn't really seem so.
