Im not much of a expert since I havent played that much shogun 2 but does it really need a remaster? The game graphics to me still hold up and there's already crazy mods in the works like the one that turns shogun 2 into empire total war or one that litteraly adds China and Korea into the game.
Not really but it's free money on the table for CA. 64bit support is always nice, if nothing else.

End Times (9.0) Patch Notes: link

Notable changes/fixes:
  • Fixed AI stack clumping on settlements (for real this time!!!1) "With these latest improvements, cases where armies of any Campaign AI stack up around a settlement shouldn’t persist for more than 5-6 turns at the worst. Usually the “clumping” is for around 2-3 turns while the AI is recruiting and reassessing its priorities" lol
  • WoC and Archaon should be less retarded
  • Archaon super confederation
  • Reduced campaign end-turn times by up to 30%!
  • Wound recovery time reduction is less common and now there are stacking wounded traits. Meaning you won't have to kill Ungrim 6 times in a row anymore.
  • Massive VC updates including randomly spawning zombie dragon landmarks, new mechanics like "The hero versions of Vlad and Isabella can now become lords by reaching level 20 and putting a point on a new skill at the end of their unique lines", corpse/blood mechanics and more!
  • Per army RoR caps
  • Books of Nagash are now items that can be stolen if the character is killed or if the settlement is taken
  • Daemonic Re-Emergence: chaos demons were routinely getting completely eradicated, so now they will respawn in provinces with high corruption, (I'm guessing this will be similar to the beastman herd mechanic) including the chaos demon LLs.
  • The End Times ™
Quite a hefty patch, with bug fixes as well. If it's stable on Thursday, I'll try skeleton spam with VCs to see how annoying the unit caps are.

I am ready, are you ?

Patch looks interesting, maybe I missed the actual unit balance part or we get those patch notes tomorrow. Otherwise, I would be surprised if they haven't touched any units at all.
But its CA so I anticipate a lot of things to be broken, cant wait for the hot fix on Friday lol

If nothing else the UI will scale to 4k properly, which is nice, and silly as it is is what's keeping me from playing Empire again. Hopefully they do that next.

Yeah definitely, I saw a thread on leddit about the skitterleap teleport spell not working (which means Skaven Stealth magic update is being delayed) and I think the dev also mentioned unit balance changes coming soon.

Yeah I just checked the Shadow Warrior/Walker units and the triple debuff is still missing. I don't want to immediately start complaining but they have been working on this DLC and patch for 1,5-2 years and I would expected them to get their shit together once.

Oh well, DLC seems to be power creep galore which was to be expected. Just took a quick look at the new stuff. Faction, lord and skill trees are still shit but at least the Path of Exile Nagash tech tree looks fun.

I had fun with the Boris campaign but it was completely ruined when I couldn't do the final battle to achieve the short victory. I was playing with only visual mods so nothing in the gameplay was changed. I hope CA gets this shit fixed soon. I hope the other new campaigns don't face the same problem since apparently they all have final battles.

How are the Teutogen Guard? Some of the early talk I heard was they'd be completely busted.

Im replaying Archaeon. You actually have to fight all the daemon faction LLs 1v1 in order to get them to submit.

I slapped Tamurkhan the old fashionded way then two turns later i got an event to 1v1 Epidermus to get him to submit.

I tried Thanqol too. He really is the Horned Rat's Silliest Clown.

The Empire still dont have their best troops.

Somehow one of the most dangerous artillery in the lore is manlets sling shotting their mom's cooking into enemy formations.

Yeah but then you have redditards crying that Empire needs a weakness or sth.

Bitch, just make them tier IV and expensive if you want to balance them.
Redditors are retarded but their inability to construct a proper argument doesn't mean they are necessarily wrong. Races have become too homogenized over the years. The Empire's strength is its ability to field combined arms armies. Which means they can react and counter most things but that also should have the drawback that most units are rather weak on their own. But CA can't balance for shit and with the pace of battles and the constant power creep its just a mess. As much as WH1 and early WH2 were bad there was at least some kind of race identity.

Short Kings are known for their artillery prowess. In my vlad campaign I just finished off Ungrim with Thanquol's help. Might backstab him soon before he tries a surprise raid on my capital.

Undead recruitment is very convenient now, if you've stockpiled enough corpses you can raise an entire army in one turn to fend off invasions. The sarcophagus mechanic is neat as well. Much much better system than the previous economic strategy of build gallows in every province.

Probably overtuned right now, along with the general power creep of everything else. Perhaps they could add corpse/blood upkeep or reduce the battle loot modifiers (you can stack the +20% unique trait heros have).

Funny how they don't say that about Kislev or Cathay...
The overall "balance" strategy seems to be making everything more powerful instead of each faction having an appropriate handicap. I'd guess that's because CA decided they want all the wh3 races to be all-around strong and now they need to modernize the races from 1 & 2. Which is not great but simpler than trying to balance the hundreds of different battle matchups available now.
