Honestly, I'd much rather Paradox be the steward of Total War if SEGA were to sell if off or for Paradox to create their own direct competitor to Total War. I have zero faith in CA at this point to be anything other than an eventual shuttered studio with their IP sold off.
Paradox would be worse. Their big 3d game went through development hell and ended with them releasing Bloodlines 2 like a turd and saying there won't be any titles like it in the future even if by some miracle it turns a profit.

Meanwhile SEGA decided that the overwhelming negative response to that Hyena game meant they had to send representatives to the UK to figure out what was going on, saw it for the clusterfuck it was and axed it.
Creative Assembly is where the rot is, they were the ones who decided they could waste $100 million and most of their studio talent on a troon extraction slop shooter.

Only mentally ill people could have taken a look at the art direction of Hyenas and decided to burn $100 million on it.

Genuinely have no idea how anyone in charge of CA thought that was a good idea or was going to make them money.

My guess is that since they're based in the UK they've been ideologically captured and they had some woke consulting firm telling them games with drag queens and everything being purple and pink was in.
They diverted resources from Warhammer 3, their cashcow, to work on that monstrosity

CA has already been captured for years, I doubt there was a consulting firm needed at all. Volound may be a complete fucking retarded commie sperg but him and Legend did some good work uncovering the whole Hyenas debacle and it seems like the higher ups at CA have been in la-la land for several years and don't want to be known as the "Total War guys" anymore, hence Hyenas.

WH 3 DLC on Thursday and the 25th Anniversary showcase. Here are my predictions for the shit show, just throwing random shit out:

Announcement that 30/40 K are being developed with a brand-new engine
Medieval 2 "remaster" by Feral + Medieval 3 announcement
More WH3 DLC content by CA Bulgaria for 3+ years
Random sequel announcement from the series, maybe Empire 2

They are teasing Nagash appearing in the game.

Not excited for any of the End Times stuff, though.

This is just wild to me. They've spent 25 years on the series. It's what they are good at. Re-tooling the studio to go make anything else is not going to go the way they think. If they are burnt out it is time to leave. Time to hand over the reins to someone else. There is no shame in that.

CA makes Total War games. It is what they are good-ish at. It's where all their corporate knowledge is. Forcing the studio to retool into some games as a service Overwatch clone developer was always a bad idea. They don't make shooters, on top of that fad being years past and the market at saturation.

At the end of the day I want Medieval 3, I feel the longing of my ancestors to harpoon French Knights with English Longbows.

What happened was that a small team within CA made Alien Isolation, which while not a big financial success got the studio a lot of praise. This made CA believe they could make another great non Total War game. Big mistake. The director and writers of Alien Isolation went on to work on Halo Wars 2, and instead they hired Alexandre Breault that had previously made ubislop titles, and Alex Honeysett, a marketing strategist, to be in charge of what would become Hyenas.

Project balloons in cost and struggles to meet deadline, money and developers are siphoned from other teams. It kills support for Three Kingdoms in 2021 even though the game has a big east Asian fanbase still makings large content mods for it to this day.

You could ask why CA thought it was a good idea to make a project based on Alien Idolation feedback that was nothing like Alien Isolation, headed by people hired from outside CA, had a budget many times its size, was stealing funds and devs from other projects. And was so shit that a SEGA representative from Japan decides it's cheaper to axe the game months from release.

I am expecting a tease but if it's a full on reveal they are sunsetting the game. There is no point in releasing content after an End Times DLC. Oh Boy, Thursday is going to be a train wreck.

That reminds me of how many times people have said that HW2 was not 343 but by CA, then actual evidence released that CA's contribution to HW2 was the engine and not much else.

CA is truly a hidden trainwreck of a game company, something that would make Behavior Interactive blush.

Halo Wars 2 actually had the game director, writer, and art director of Alien Isolation, the writer would later work on Three Kingsoms. So at least the lead devs were all CA veterans

Taking into consideration the current state of CA post-Hyenas, I assume these veterans were laid-off at some point or jumped ship.

Not sure if real but if it is, who asked for this?

I can't see how they'd pull this off given that it'd require space maps and fleet movement.
Same as 40K. It would be hilarious regardless of if we get SW or 40K if they just paint the water black and treat space as oceans, and you just put your troops on a literal ship. Cant see them doing it otherwise in the current engine.
