What time period would they cover if they did though? I think all the main ones involving large scale wars have been done.

A total war game set in ww2 or after would probably be shit, ww1 might be doable and the years before that (russia japan war, spanish American war, Boer war etc). Make the gameplay similar to fall of the shogun.
Small brain: well, yeah, that's unfortunate
Big brain: CLEARLY WE NEED TO MAKE MORE WARS

Medieval 3 has been overdue for a while.

Total War should avoid global wars and focus on regional wars.

Why fight in North Africa when you can just snipe Germany itself? The answer is obvious in grand strategy, but with Total War you have no reason not to.

I reckon medieval 3 would be pozzed to hell and back in today's climate. No crusades, black Vikings, islam is a peaceful faction etc

WW1 was kinda regional and covered the Map in medieval total war, could release that and dlc for other stuff that happened around that time period featuring different maps.

Either that or as you said, focus on more regional conflicts. Ancient Greece was kinda touched upon in Rome 2 as DLC, I think that would be quite cool.

Fantasy TW and TW games with a heavy fantasy element are just dull for me. Why not a third MTW?

Or an entire Rome II overhaul. Remove that shitty warscape engine with something that actually supports unit collision and AI improvements. They have money and resources to pour it in TW3, so I see no excuse.

Medieval 3 or an Empire 2. Could go all the way from 1700 to 1890 or so for the latter. Start with pikes and early muskets, end with smokeless breechloaders. Its not like tactics changed a great deal in that time period, even with the Minie ball. Turns out that giant smoke clouds, low velocity, and still needing to load from the muzzle don't negate the advantages of rifling when it comes to tactics and formations. You did see more skirmish-style infantry formations happen when breechloaders became common, but ranges were still pretty terrible since 200 yards is about the best black powder lets you do without things getting into indirect fire territory.

The people who made Rome Remastered could probably make a good Medieval 2 remaster instead of a CA Medieval 3. I still don't trust CA after Rome 2 launch.

I want more gladiators, sweaty and bulgy and glistening in tiny loincloths.

As for a game, maybe Vikings or Ireland? I personally think that since the door has been opened to fantasy worlds, there'll be more of that, and more low/medium quality RW minigames instead of full effort games.

I haven't played much in a long while, but if they do Chaos Dwarfs and Ogre Kingdoms right I could get back into it. They've got that much goodwill, after Vampire Coast I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.

Considering Nakai came out after the Vampire Coast kills any benefit of the doubt though....

A pike and shot total war would be pretty cool, maybe starting in the mid 16th century and ending in the mid 17th, and focusing entirely on the European theatre.

So long as we don't get dumb Three Kingdoms tier shit like a single entity Gustavus Adolphus riding around the battlefield wiping out pike formations single-handedly I'll be happy. Although at this point I don't think CA wants to make faithful historical titles anymore (¥¥¥).

Warhammer's pretty cool but it isn't gonna last forever. Wonder what they'll do next after their cash cow dries up.

Surprised no-one's mentioned the Cathay reveal for Warhammer 3 yet. Roster looks pretty boring imo: several tiers of basic human soldiers, counterfeit jezzails, kind of interesting lores of magic and some cool single entity stuff. I'm really struggling to find another race of humans all that new or exciting, maybe their lore is interesting at least... ?

"[...] the Celestial Dragon Emperor still rules over Grand Cathay. He spends his time in the Celestial City above Wei-Jin, contemplating the destiny of the empire with his wife, the equally revered Moon Empress. They are the true ‘power couple’ of the Warhammer World, older than most of the gods, for they existed when the planet was colder, before even the Old Ones came and pulled it closer to the sun."

"Had the Emperor and Moon Empress wished it, sheer force of numbers and powerful magics and artillery could have dominated much of the land to the west, but they have been content to rule and defend their already formidable nation."

Similarly, the Dragons are not treated as gods, nor do they demand worship. They are immensely powerful beings, rulers by magical and physical right rather than mysterious divinity. The iconography of the Dragons is common-place and ever-present throughout society, but because they are very real, very present, and very powerful rulers. They are treated by the people with the reverence such beings deserve and speaking ill of them, especially if you are not native to Grand Cathay, is a quick way to get yourself killed.

Pretty tame, especially for Warhammer. The whole "they possess inhuman godlike power but are incorruptible and everyone in Cathay loves them" is so lame. What wasted potential for what could've been a very interesting faction lore-wise.

Are the Chinese really that devoid of a sense of fun that they won't purchase anything that in any way satirises Chinese culture, or is their omnipresent panopticon government so fragile that it can't handle a little mockery? Maybe a bit of both?

CA certainly don't give a fuck; they just want to infiltrate the market and escape with fat stacks of yen. If that means pandering to a bunch of spineless gooks then so be it I guess lmao.

At least daemons of Tzeentch and Kislev look fun.
