US musician Tom Petty has been rushed to hospital after being found unconscious following a suspected cardiac arrest.

Paramedics rushed to the singer's home in California on Sunday night after reports that he had been found unconscious and not breathing.

He was rushed to the nearby hospital in Santa Monica where he is reportedly on life support.

The 66-year-old has just finished a huge tour which wrapped at the Hollywood Bowl arena in Los Angeles last week, TMZ reported.

I wasn't personally fond of his singing like really at all, but damn, it's still sad. We're losing too many of our legends.

I just wanted to share details of this interview he recently did. It kinda made my heart weak. The interview is from about 6 weeks ago. He was asked about his fan base and he was saying that sometimes he got teary eyed because without his fans he would be nothing. He said that their love for him inspired some of his greatest music. He actually mentions some people by their names, which is really touching. The interview really hits home as to how down to earth the guy was, and how passionate he was about his music and about making people happy. At one point he actually asked the interviewer if she knew how many sleepless nights he spent trying to make the perfect music for his fans. She very quietly replied: about tree fiddy. It was about this time that tom petty suspected that the interviewer was none other than the god damned loch ness monster. God damn loch ness monster, tom petty said, I took out a restraining order on you! You're not supposed to be near me.

God, the past 24 hours have fucking sucked. The world really is just doing us like that.

Well, I know whose discography I'm marathoning for the next couple days.

I've never been a fan of Tom Petty's music, but my barber constantly bugged me to check out his documentary on Netflix, and I eventually caved.

I had to turn it off halfway through the 4 hour runtime and still hate his music, but the man is the salt of the Earth. I hope he's still able to recover, 66 is too young.

Fuuuuck.

Tom is a national treasure and carved his own niche in the music world.

Fuck this day and everything about it.

He looked great for his age surprised he got a heart attack.

These days you expect people to live into their 80s and 90s because it's just so common now.

So they still can't confirm his death. All tabloids thrive on being first because it gives them some limited time exclusivity that draws clicks. But as slimy as TMZ is they are usually pretty accurate and they aren't saying he's dead either.

I don't think said he was dead at any point. Just that he's braindead and everyone in his camp were hush hush about his condition ATM.

Brain dead is pretty much dead. Fuck today. (His greatest hits was the first CD I bought when I got my first CD player back in the day) :(

I went to one of his concerts a couple years ago. The crowd was awful, but what I managed to hear of the live music was fine.

Adios, Tom. Thanks for everything you have contributed.
