Dog-Fella Null touched up on it earlier, but when a lot of us were younger, the school system would tell you to never share your info on the internet unless you’re forced to for a business service or the like. Because the internet is fun. What went from a general "great unknown" has now been morphed into a corporate entity for the most part. It doesn't help that we now have people that have gotten fame/fortune purely for being a dumbass on the internet. If those people can do it, why can't kids? I've even witnessed grown adults willingly shove their personal information for everyone else to see online just as a way to "one-up" in an argument. Hell, my fucking mother in law of all people did this bullshit, in a facebook comment chain. Gotta prove to literal nobodies how "queer and proud" your 10 year old is!

It's just bred narcissism.
