How did Disco Elysium got colonized by pooners this fast? I know it's a socialist game, but it's also highly critical of liberal identity politics (that's the whole deal with 'Moralist' faction in that game). I was playing during definitely era release (~2021), most of the audiences for the games seemed to more like people who listened to political podcasts, left leaning, but not exactly woke. The pooner invasion seem to happen a few years later, and now most of the fanarts came from pooners who want to make these old detectives pooners. or the hardy boys pooners.

The original game is lacking in trans characters though, it's very unimaginable now. The trucker woman character who's got cowboy identity seemed to get it from cognitohazard of the pale, not because she's really trans.

It's because the pooner/enby/artist circles on Xitter, Tumblr and Discord have their own influencers who sometimes fish out years or even decades old media, make art of it and cause a sudden wave of mass interest between people who wouldn't normally find their way to those. Their discovery of DE waited for the time the relevant bloggers finish rewatching DS9, Columbo, The Terror or something, idk really, and will want new stories and new men to obsess about.
My guess as for why DE in particular had exploded in popularity by pooners, is that they recruit from the artsy types who are interested in the topics and the (male) characters, but don't play much and would rather read a book or watch a TV series, and the accessible and non-time consuming game mechanics appeals to them. The player character's road to self-rediscovery isn't interrupted by having to grind stats much and fight pesky sewer rats and countless urban thugs left and right. One can just go from place to place, read and click text and yet somehow stagger to the end. Many other games just failed to keep their interest or have too high hardware requirements.

And yeah, the only other thing any close to troonery is the turkish prostitute balcony smoker's crossdressing wardrobe (in concept art only, if I remember?), and it's made quite clear, that it's there for roleplay purposes with his Sunday sugar daddy.

Troons have ruined going to see the doctor. Endocrinologist appointments take forever to schedule in my area (blue state), and my latest provider entirely left the state recently on top of it. I'm guessing she wasn't thrilled about her profession turning into high-level tranny affirmation.

Not going to provide too many details, but not long ago I did have an actual life-threatening illness with a long hospital stay and I still can't schedule an appointment with an endocrinologist in less than 3 months. And I have seen at least one troon in the waiting room each time, so I know it's a factor.

These terms are not synonyms! There are many women who cannot get pregnant for one reason or another, but it is absolutely dehumanizing to refer to someone by their potential reproductive function, as if that function supercedes everything else relevant.

Notice you never ever come across "people who can ejaculate" used seriously, despite that being accurate for men over a greater period of their adult life than "people who can get pregnant" is for women.

At least offensive they make boring fanart and milquetoast gay ships between any two men they decide are hottest together, at worst (and it’s frequently worst) they insist on the characters being gay and trans and black and mentally ill and xir xim and through total shit fits if you refuse to accept their insane, possessive behavior:

I thought you meant a doctor referred to a group of women as "people who can get pregnant" not potentially fertile women referred to as gender-neutral "people" instead of biologically accurate "women". Not so bad as my first assumption but I would be rolling my eyes too.

That's right, and there is a certain part of the fandom that never had seen a computer in their life (I mean a pc or a laptop) and never interacted with the source material. They just do some fandom cruising, watch letsplays and draw what is currently popular by other pooners. They'd likely be very disappointed if they actually got their sausagey little fingers on a computer, played the game and realized the gay sex is not happening and their image of DE was heavily skewed.

Anyway, my point would be that while I do think some of the “old man yaoi” concept stems from reality smacking them in the face that they would become short fat ugly hairy losers if they were on HRT long enough, I don’t think that’s the actual root of the issue. It’s more sad that that.

I mentioned before that I am/was pretty involved with internet fandom stuff. This is true, but what is more pertinent is that I happen to be a heterosexual woman and my taste in men has always run a little on the older, gruffer, nastier side (finding DE back when it first came out felt like it had been made for me, lol).

Anyway the point is, I was drawing and browsing a ton of art centered around “old man yaoi” type characters. And even more notably, I consistently found that the overwhelming majority of artists who really fixate on fictional men and fanart were pooners. This is no surprise, of course, pooners are notoriously into yaoi and male/male/“gay” media, but what I think it less commonly understood by people who don’t routinely interact with these people is that they really, sincerely do have the most woman/brained, heterosexual female tastes. They’re attracted to hairy, overtly masculine, usually somewhat jaded or emotionally guarded men who have a secret soft side or a heart of gold buried under all the grime and sweat. There’s a range, of course, but a lot, and I mean a fucking LOT of pooners are into these types of men. I have been observing and in some cases interacting with these freaks for almost a decade now. They are fucking everywhere. Every franchise an fandom has them. Arcane, The Boys, Disco Elysium, Twin Peaks, even fucking Columbo as noted a few posts before. If there are older, disheveled, morally dubious men in media, they flock to them like flies on a corpse.

Now if we want to go even further: If you strip it down really to biological implications, it makes sense, but socially I think it’s a little taboo for women to openly admit they’re attracted to non-conventional or “gross”/“old”/whatever men. It certainly was something I got bullied and teased for frequently when I was a young internet rapscallion. It isn’t “normal” for women today to be into downright horrible men. But guess what? You know who has a whole culture for being into big hairy toxically masculine men? Gay dudes. So Ayden realizes that she’s not actually a women with more unusual taste in men, she’s a gay twink looking for her bear daddy!

As an aside, I will say that the massive rise in shitty slop women’s media like romantasy novels and the like have very slowly started to expand the range of what is typically considered attractive or desirable in the fictional world, but I will say none of the love interests in those books really hit the way I want them to. Even if it’s all about a toxic powerful mafia boss with ribbed abs and smoky eyes, he’s not going to feel as real and dangerously alluring as, say, Tony Soprano (whose show also has a sizable pooner audience now. Of course.)

Anyway. That’s my big sperg about this topic. I have a lot to say about it because it’s sincerely been such a huge thorn in my side as a creative online with more unusual interests. I may be MATI, but there’s not really anywhere else for me to find shit in line with what im looking for. So it continues. Same as it ever was.

I suspect that the numbers on fatherless children are racially skewed. A higher percentage of black kids are fatherless, but a higher percentage of white kids get trooned out.

Sometimes having a father in your life physically but not emotionally or being abused/neglected by a parent (unfortunately very common even in wealthier or middle class white families) can lead to just as bad mental issues. Religious views, political views, even just standard narcissistic tendencies (not necessarily true NPD, just more severe cases of narcissistic behavior) can lead children to developing a poor sense of self and maladjusted sexual and emotional attachments. And not to mention the sizable portion of troons and poons who have been molested.

Every pooner I have ever met has either been literally or metaphysically raped. I’m not joking, all of them had either a history of being sexually abused or pushed into extremely religious/political indoctrination from a young age (think fringe cults, orthodox religions, extremist political positions).

I really do think that abuse in childhood and early teenhood (which can also present itself as parents simply not seeing or understanding their child’s needs, or refusing to admit when there’s already a problem, e.g bullying/depression/EDs/internet addiction) is one of the major step stones for kids to fall prey to gender ideology. It can even happen to kids in very sheltered communities who aren’t properly “groomed” by peers or shady adults; anecdotally, I once knew a Catholic family who also homeschooled all 8(!!) of their children. Very traditional, very religious, and from the outside, very “functional”. The second oldest was a girl, and when she hit 13-14 years old she started to identify as “nonbinary” and eventually I think properly trans. The reason? She was naturally more tomboyish and “masculine”, she didn’t care for feminine clothing or hobbies (the mother pushed “traditional” girl activities on her along with the usual course of Catholic misogyny). At some point she met a peer or saw something online that put the idea in her head that being a girl who doesn’t align with strict feminine traits must mean that she wasn’t actually a girl, and the rest was history. When you are raised in an insular community and told explicitly what a woman ”should be” in the eyes of an alleged all-knowing god, and you don’t fit that bill at all, I can imagine it might be distressing and leave a kid vulnerable to outside influences. If it hadn’t been gender cult, it would have been goth grunge, neopagan witchcraft, or something else of that caliber.

This is getting really off topic so I’ll stop now. I have so much experience and many thoughts on pooners/young women indoctrinated into the gender cult, I should write my own book or something

'Ethel Cain' is one of the biggest names and I've seen his name pop up a lot in fandom circles, as his lyrics are the inspiration to plot lines and titles for their work. He had a bit of an oopsie when it was revealed he was a white supremacist when he was 19. His fans tried to say he 'grew out of it', but black people and black troons were not having it. Ethel Cain is the troon version of Taylor Swift and you'll see his songs in the Spotify playlists these people make.
