Taylor dating and getting engaged to Travis Kelce gave her career a boost because it’s the type of man her fans aspire to date and/or hook up with. Swifties care more about that than her LGBTBBQWTF endorsements in recent years, which she does a lot less of these days now that an NFL player is apparently boinking her brains out.
Dare I ask what kind of man do you think the Swifties actually aspire to date? Do they not yearn for the chaddest of chads?

That’s what my post was saying.

Her career got a boost dating and now getting engaged to Kelce. Ultimately the Swifties can or want to relate to dating or hooking up with Chads, because many Swifties are Staceys or aspiring Staceys. Staceys never really gave much of a shit about People of Alphabet outside of half hearted endorsements as a status symbol. As much as critics don’t like Taylor singing about getting dick from an NFL player (they much prefer she pander to the alphabet people instead), it’s the type of stupid shit her fans would like.

I think I get it now. She's flexing something many of her fans can't get themselves and the Swifties want her to go back to cheap virtue signaling again.

I can't help but find the previous year's legal and moral/ethical controversies over Taylor Swift AI porn hilariously ironic because she effectively kissed and told with this song. Travis seems to be taking it well because that song sells celebrity intrigue that he will profit from down the line. If I were him, I couldn't help but feel a very personal side of my private life was made into a spectacle. Then again, I'm not a celebrity athlete, so...

I remember one time my ex partner/wife cried and screamed at me because I showed her the Papa Meat video. Stormed out and didn't speak to me for 2 days. I never brought up Taylor again. I seriously don't get it, plus she doesn't use proper rhyming schemes. Good riddance on my part though :semperfidelis:
was she gone for the entirety of the 2 days or was it some leave for 8 hours/come back and seethe

...but I don't think Swift's fanbase ever consisted largely of gays? I mean, she's no Carly Rae Jepsen.

I always got the impression Swift's Lover album was an attempt by her team to market to the Tumblr chronically online Lesbian "Gaylors" (i.e. the conspiracy theory Swift is secretly gay). When the Lover album flopped, Swift moved on to marketing to cottagecore Pinterest TikTok moms (Evermore & that other album with a similar name).

Swift's next album, if she releases one, will be ghostwritten 1989-style pop bops, which seems to be what her fandom expected The Life of a Showgirl to be. Swift's team is good at what they do, so I expect they'll take the TLOAS criticism to heart. At the end of the day, "Taylor Swift" is more of a business, than a woman writing heartfelt songs on her guitar.

Pop music since Madonna has chiefly been marketed to women and homosexuals. Russell Greer-type male fans, while extant, are much less common than the other two demographics.

God, she's cultivated the most psycho fanbase since Manson.

They need her to be exactly everything they want her to be, because she's their Bella Swan. She's supposed to be their friend, so she has to be an ally to the things they want her to be. They want her to be a feminist despite years of image cultivation as a basic white chick.

Even her haters are stuck in a loop of insanity where she clearly must be MAGA because she...wants a husband and kids? With a guy she practically prophesied herself into landing?

I'd almost feel bad for her if she didn't cultivate all this shit on her own.

It’s almost like famous people and e celebs are responsible for the audiences they cultivate. There will always be a few crazies, but normalizing crazy in your fan base will lead to ruin and they’ll turn against you at the drop of a hat if you do anything against their Byzantine list of sensibilities.

What's weird is even their haters are normalized to be crazy.

The one snark subreddit is now overfull with people who don't just criticize because she doesn't meet leftist standards, but criticizes anyone else who doesn't share those standards.

Like, whoa, slow down, bitches, there's no wrong way to hate Taylor Swift. You might get taken more seriously if you weren't as parasocial about it as her fans are.

From the videos I've watched and a cursory google search for "Life of a Showgirl plagiarism", it sounds like she's been "interpolating" a lot of other artists for this album and it sounds like the only permission she asked for was "Father Figure" by George Michael. I can understand wanting permission given he was such a big name and his estate would be more likely to pursue legal action, but she's also accused of ripping off the Jonas Brothers. Not exactly titans of the industry, but still well known.

This album is so bind-mogglingly confusing that I misspelled mind-bogglingly while trying to express my confusion.

Here is the titular 'The Life of a Showgirl' and this is 'Cool' by the Jonas Brothers. Obviously overlap and repetition happen a lot in pop music but this feels like an embarrassing oversight considering Taylor Swift used to date Joe Jonas way back in the day (resulting in about 2-3 songs, I believe 1 from Joe and the others from Taylor) and more recently was spotted out and about with Joe's ex-wife, Sophie Turner, during their public fallout.

I think once Taylor dumps her boyfriends, they're often un-personed by her fanbase. To then have her turn around and sample or dabble with a sound from one of an ex's singles all these years later is hilarious.

TayTay's music has never been particularly original anyway from day one. It's just that her fans are the same kind of censorious mongoloids that keep receipts, waiting for that day when they can turn on their faves and reveal all the receipts.

This is what is happening to her now, and honestly, it's the fanbase she curated with parasocial dedication and hence the one she thoroughly deserves.

Big Time Rush S04E02 "Big Time Scandal":

The episode opens with the boys floating ideas to counteract bad press with good press, James suggests dating Taylor Swift. The others shoot that idea down, saying it could backfire horrendously if they broke up - he could get "Swifted" and his entire career would be destroyed. It is then revealed that Lucy Stone, Kendall's kinda-sorta-will-they-won't-they ex, released a hit called "You Dumped Me For Her" and Kendall himself has been Swifted. The gang hatch a plan to "Kanye" Lucy at a press conference for the new song/album by repeatedly interrupting her and not allowing her to speak.

Give me all the puzzle pieces. I just really fucking love this show.

Father Figure is one of the greatest pop tunes ever(no pedo) and she did the most dogshit homage.

I would have respected it if she had done a straight cover even if it didn't turn out that great.

If she just covered "Father Figure", we could at least laugh at her inability to pull off George Michael's swagger and sex appeal. Instead, she just stole the title.

nah she got a boost because Kelce is as fame hungry as she is. The rest of the guys she dated ( famous actors musicians mind you) weren't. If she was dating a NFL star that was more private she wouldn't have gotten the boost
