What is going to be the big surprise this year? SQ42 2025? New game announcement from CIG? Yogi coming out as trans, and now it is transphobic to hate on master mode?

Gameplay trailer, featuring some A-list celebrities I guess.

So the best they could come up with after all these years is some shitty FPS "gameplay" that constantly takes away control from the player in the name of being cinematic in a realistic space sandbox MMO and a.... on rails turret section?! :lit:

Not talking about anyone here, but god damn just make a movie if you want to make a movie. You're in the wrong industry if you think shit like this passes for a video game. Players shouldn't have to fight developers to play the game for more than 5 seconds at a time. This "constantly take away control of the character from the players" trend because you insinuate they can't follow a simple linear path and don't care to fix your game even with unlimited time and budget is just outright evil.

Also love that quick-time event, a gameplay aspect that was old and tired when they started this all a decade ago.

I didn't know we had a thread for this cluster fuck of a game. As one of the brain dead retards who put money into this piece of shit I will likely be posting here more often.

Anyways, the reason for me searching this up.

Some new drama recently, the redditors are rising up they've had enough of this nonsense after each of them spending thousands on art of ships that might maybe exist in the next couple decades they have finally had enough. You might think that the recent release of a $1,900 (A) ship that you have to have already spent $1000 on the store for the right to maybe be able to purchase one but can't due to a limited supply and reselling bot accounts buying them instantly.

But no this is all mostly fine in the redditors eyes... The actual issue is just the release of blades and modules.

Unfortunately the original post announcing blades has been deleted before I could archive but the actual items (A) are still here.

What are blades (A) you might ask? Well let's say you are Timmy, you just acquired the MPUV Cargo, the worst vehicle in the game... It's a flying forklift. Now Timmy really loves his forklift but he keeps getting killed by people. What can he do... Well luckily Timmy can pull out moms credit card and spend $10 on the store to purchase a blade kit for his MPUV which simply increases the the max speed and maneuverability of his space fork lift.

These blades are also available for a load of already powerful combat ships with the most expensive going for $35... At the same time they also started selling modules for one of the modular ships the retaliator which include bombs, torpedos, and other weapons. These aren't currently available for players to purchase with ingame currency though they are claiming it will be available for ingame currency next patch (months out) so we are now selling ingame weapons for $75

The redditors did not take the realization that their modular ships/pieces of art they already pre purchased years ago will require hundreds if not thousands of more purchases to get the actual modules for them well. The redditors instantly pinned a call to action to the star citizen sub reddit(Sorry forget to archive) with many flooding the star citizen forums with complaints to the point the amount of downdoots allegedly crippled RSI's forum software and they had to temporarily delete the post blades announcement after attempts to stop the updoots from crashing their servers failed.

After a day of their servers getting downdooted to death and realizing that they are making so much money with the 2 grand ship anyways they decided to not surrender but basically say. "We are sorry you are too stupid to understand that you will be able to buy it with ingame currency in 3 months. We will let you buy any future blades on release for ingame currency in the future and any SMALLER components on release."Source

The redditors have declared victory with this and have already moved on to complaining that it's too hard to gave RSI 2 grand for the Idris-P and they should let them give RSI even more money.

TLDR: The Star Citizen reddit had a short lived uprising over P2W microtransactions before moving on to complain it's too hard to buy the $2,000(Real life money) ship.

The Star Citizen reddit is actually one of the most amazingly delusional places on earth. I decided to pop back in the game to see it's state with all the recent updates and drama... Of course it was instantly glitching the fuck out even worse than before. While searching for fixes I found this post of someone congratulating CIG for being able to play the game for 4 hours with only 2 client crashes amazingly stunning.

Archive.PH

"I just gotta say, we played a 4+ hour game session on Sunday, with 8 orgmates, in various ships, salvaging a found polaris, got RMC, and Construction materials and 24 Torps, and pulled everything off of it, guns missiles, fuses. Then we did carrier ops with an Idris in Pyro, made the jump with three small ships and 7 Orgmates on board. With ships taking off and landing after each engagement.

Only 2 crashs from one orgmates client, one time and they immediately were able to get back in and show up in the same spot, and the other was with a completely full cargo elevator in their hangar, that went into our other orgmates storage when their hangar despawned. Saving all our RMC, C materials, and weapons.

All of this without a single server crash.

During a free fly when the server was constantly at capacity.

We who have been playing for 10+ years salute you. Bravo. Just Bravo."

This is completely serious by the way, he actually thinks being able to play a game for 4 hours with someone crashing only twice is some sort of accomplishment for the developers.

Additionally once I finally got the game working here is my opinion on the current state of the game/general experience.
  • 23 game crashes(18 of those the crash recovery system worked and put me back into my ship)
  • 8 servers had encountered some sort of bug rendering missions broken for all players
  • 2 times my ship just stopped spawning in my hanger requiring me to fly somewhere else which is hard with just one ship
  • I got charged with assault 32 times after accidenly throwing a grenade inside my own ship.
  • Player issued contracts were removed for some reason.
  • The police were unable to send me to jail over my 32 ship domestic violence warrants
  • Arccorp drops my FPS to 12 on my very highspec computer
  • There was a player in an Idris who was for some reason allowed to shoot me as much as he wanted but would not get a crimestar when I shot at him I got charged with assault.
  • One server every train/bus in the game stopped working rendering it impossible to leave the hospital.
  • I joined a whales Polaris(Second biggest ship $1000) as a gunner and fought someone in the new $2000 Idris because they were camping the Pyro jump point. We lost despite taking his shields out and shooting at him for 20 minutes with the Idris only scoring a few hits due to having only one crew.
  • There are so many Idris ships, so so many... I saw more Capital ships than normal ships. It is actually shocking how many whales there are.
  • Trying to join a multicrew ship in the battle game mode instantly locks up your game and forces you to restart.
  • You will 100% encounter a major bug within the first hour of playing.
  • The new inventory/cargo system is so fucking annoying. I could not figure out how I am supposed to load my ship with guns I bought. As for cargo it takes ages because you have to load every individual container manually and the ships simply aren't built for that. Or you can sit on your ass for 10 minutes to auto load it.

Starcitizen players coming home from their long day at the amazon warehouse and loading up their unpaid job at the virtual amazon space warehouse. This is gameplay.

I received a gift copy of this game years and years ago by someone who wanted to play with me when it came out. I was single at the time. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I was willing to give it a shot.

Now the kids are getting ready for middle school, and I'm not sure if there is even a game to play.

I can't believe this thing is still going on.
What's more delusional: this game which still hasn't released or cryptocurrency where you can at least (usually) sell your investment?

I'd love to see behind the curtain of the most delusional fanboys of this shit show and I'd also love to see the moment when the scam becomes undone and revealed to the world

When it works, the dogfighting is actually kinda fun. Not billions of dollars fun, but fun. The key problem is that virtually everything in the game is bugged out and broken 90% of the time.

Like how they recently had a limited time event involving freight. Except basically every single cargo elevator you would need to use to even begin loading the shit into your ship is broken and just says "overloaded" regardless of how little you try to bring up at a time, meaning only those with the ungodly good fortune to not experience the bug are getting the one-time-only available rewards.

It's a bummer because, yeah, the pitch for what the game claimed to want to be was pretty compelling. But at this point it's just become an out and out scam. Glad I didn't blow crazy dollar amounts on this shit like the whales did.

I'm actually shocked that they have not made NFT's or some kind on in game crypto.

CIG last week: We're sorry our "game" failed to let you actually run cargo for our cargo themed limited event, we feel bad that we let you down and we need to try to provide better value for everyone who spent money on our "game".

CIG this week: Hey! Here's the most overpowered capital ship in the game back for sale again! Hull limited, so make sure to login at the exact millisecond each wave drops for a chance to compete to maybe have the opportunity to give us $2000 for a single fictional spaceship unless the store crashes on checkout!

This company is such a joke lmao

That ship is such a fucking joke, actually the worst balance in any game I have ever seen. I watched 3 of the second most powerful ship(The polaris) fight a single Idris-P, one side one and it was not the 3 Polaris ships. Not to mention it is also the best cargo ship in the game, only real carrier, and just basically does all the things you are currently able to do.

They are doing some sort of ship voting contest to find the most popular. I looked at the list and didn't recognize a single name on it.

How many fucking JPEGs does this game have now?
