Vindicated, in a depressed kind of way. I would have liked to see a faithful adaptation of the books- writing quality aside, they were a big part of my childhood. With politics as they are now though, I don't think "faithful adaptations" really exist anymore.

Greifing aside, has the fanbase started to draw fanart of black Annabeth yet? There's a whole subsection of the HP fandom who exclusively draws Hermione as black after the stageplay came out with the black actress, I'm wondering if things will be the same here.
Same day as the announcement

Yeah, Blannabeth is a Thing now in the fandom- I'd bet that like with Hermione, more often than not we're going to see Blannabeth in fanart more than her actual appearance. It was really funny, this one artist was doing a "main characters as actual Gods" series and you could pinpoint the exact day Annabeth's casting got released because she immediately started drawing her design, which had previously been book-accurate, as black. It was even dumber and infinitely funnier because it was really obvious that this drawing had originally been of white Annabeth but then she'd hurriedly changed the skin color and nothing else.

It's sad because that artist is genuinely very talented, and it's a shame she feels the need to pander like that. And also, if she wanted to draw a black girl or give a black character love and affection, Hazel is literally right fucking there and chronically underappreciated.

Show it! There's meme potential there

Riordan's not going to, nor want, to have J.K. Rowling's status before the progressives ganged up on her. He'll just get ganged up on next.

They are blood thirsty, they WILL find something. If not, they will make it up like they always do.

Oh well, its gonna be fun seeing his turn in the woke mob's meat grinder

Unless they are the main character, blackies dont matter to the wokes

We can handle the cringe, we are kind of desensitized at this point

Percy jackson is cuckery

Greeks getting cucked by having their gods mate with other cultures. Rick should write a turkish character being the son of zeus or something

That'd be double cuckery though since Greeks REEEing over it would shatter the sound barrier while Turks would just find it hilarious.

One of the big reason Riordan will never dethrone Rowling is that despite how british HP series is, the core worldbuilding of it is so generic virtually anyone can imagine themselves in that world no matter their race, nation, language, and culture. Compare to that of Riordan's works, you need at the very least a basic knowledge of related mythology, something that actually not many people are interested to learn at all in many parts of the world

Generic not quite the right word for it, but I understand what you’re getting at. To understand the world of Harry Potter, you don’t need to have a lot of previous knowledge of anything pertaining to fantasy or magic, it’s all laid out for the reader.

That and there was never a (good) movie series that managed to capitalize on and massively multiply the popularity of the source material when it was at its peak. If the Harry Potter movies had come out a decade after the books finished, no way they would be as popular as they are.

If Riordan was going to be the next JK Rowling, it would’ve happened 10 years ago, not in 2022.

Does Riordan ever bring up the only tranny in Greek myth? The one chick who got properly raped by Poseidon and after the forcy funtime he grants her and wish. The wish is she wants to be a man so she can never be raped again, Poseidon makes her into a jacked guy who can never get raped and she now he runs on a rampage before killing herself because she got raped by a Greek God and Poseidon is somehow worse than Hera.

My favorite is still the cuckhold myth where the cripple God shows everyone he's being cucked as some sort of own.

Clarisse got blacked too.

They better not fucking race-swap Silena Beauregard as well.

You know they will, only Luke will be a white guy at the end.
...Cuz you know, white man bad so the villain has to be white still.

Ahh, the wonders of anti-racism. The brand of racism that has bee disturbingly accepted by society :)
>violent female bully character
>gets race-swapped to be black

I take it all back, I think Rick might secretly be /ourguy/

It was either that or Clarisse is played by this guy-GAL, gal, I meant gal...

I'll be honest, I liked the Percy Jackson movies better than the books. They were more entertaining.

The problem isnt that they are bad adaptations, the problem is that they are just not very good movies in general.

Sea of Monsters literally ends with the big bad being defeated while still somehow setting up another sequel just in case.

Edit: The Harry Potter movies have their adaptation problems but I can still say they are entertaining flicks none the less. Same goes for the Lord of The Rings trilogy. They arent perfect adaptations but the effort was there.

I forgot about the Harry Potter knockoffs, I mean, Percy Jackson series until seeing a tv series trailer on Youtube.

Instead of raceswapping everyone for an adaptation of the original series, why didn't they just go straight to the Heroes of Olympus? That's when Riordan pushed the token diversity to 11 and made sure minorities outnumbered the crackers. You had two Beaners, a shape shifting Oriental Chink, a Negress with voodoo gem powers and a Native American with braids to complete the brown, yellow, black and red-skin rainbow of freaks.

I got to say though, Grover going from a nigger in the movies to a Pajeet in the television series is just icing on the cake. I love how even Percy got massacred in ths pasting. The dude had olive skin and jet black hair but gets played by a pasty, soulless ginger (maybe he's blonde? I don't care).

I will admit, re-reading the books as an adult made me realize many of the glaring flaws, but I still find them enjoyable. I don't know why they had to stretch both of the original and sequel arcs to 5 books though.

I bet if Thalia eventually shows up, she'll be a non-binary lesbian. And the hunters of Artemis will be a gang of men-hating lesbians.

I wonder if Kane Chronicles would be KANG chronicles if he wrote it today.
I mean, they kinda were. The main 2 characters, a brother and a sister, were the result of an interracial marriage between an American brotha and an English woman. The daughter was just white while the son was just black. So Riordan was retarded even back then.

They already were portrayed that way. The change will be that it's shown as a good thing rather than a trait that makes them unlikable.

God, they're going to absolutely butcher Zoe, aren't they? She was my favorite character when I was a kid because she admitted to being wrong about men at the end of her arc, but I just can't see that being kosher in current year.

I like when these man-hating amazon types recognise when they are wrong. Guess having that sort of arc is just not happening anymore.
