I don't plan on having kids for the foreseeable future; not that I wouldn't mind, just... not interested at this point. So, I might go ahead and drop the books. Need to clear out some room anyways.

Actually, there's another other book series that Riordan's had his hands in that I haven't seen any dialogue here about; The 39 Clues, another kid-centric series. Anyone got any thoughts on that one?
10 year old me enjoyed it greatly. I don’t remember it having anything objectionable, but I only read the first series and most of the second. If you ever do have kids, I'm sure they'd like it too.

"Oh boy! A thread dedicated to my favorite childhood book series: Percy Jackson! Surely this will be about all the good shit Riordan has written over the years! I mean I've not seen his works past Heroes of Olympus, but I'm sure that he's got it in him!"

>Just read this thread.
>Riordan drinks the Tumblrite Kool-Aid
>Books are peak dogshit.
This isn't a "my goat is washed" situation. It's "my goat has been slaughtered and what remains is his blood on the door."
FUCKING WHY? WHY HAVE SO MANY THINGS FROM MY CHILDHOOD BE CORRUPTED BY INCLUSIVE GREED??

Rick Riordan dropped the ball when he tried to gaslight us that Nico was always gay. Not to mention he just cannot write women without them being obnoxious "pick me's" and "not like other girls". It's so laughably ridiculous after PJO that I stopped keeping up with the series after Magnus Chase. Which sucks, I liked Kane Chronicles a lot and will often want to reread it, But there's also the weird shit in THOSE books with Sadie Kane being 13 and her love interests being 16 and a multi millennia old god respectively. Holy shit.

I remember the writing in the Vesper series starting to suck hard, mostly; characterization felt a bit weird, there was that Amy/Jake ship that came out of nowhere, etc. Also wondering if I should hang on to all the old cards...

I remember those parts making me a bit uncomfortable when I first read them; nowadays, they feel prophetic.

They remind me of the fucking House of Night, honestly; I think the only female character that this guy made that I still like is Annabeth.

I forgot they had a 13-year-old date a fucking god... that just sours the series for me, personally.

I bet if Thalia eventually shows up, she'll be a non-binary lesbian. And the hunters of Artemis will be a gang of men-hating lesbians.
I don't know if you were right but have a look.

Season 2 finally is here (well the 10th but still).

Here is some of the new cast:

let's see what people have to say. I remember season 1 being just meh.

I like how this guy made all the greek gods subordinates of the abrahamic one. Can't mess with Yahwe-Jeezuz-Allohasnackbar cultists even if the work is fictional.
