Classic Lara Croft is an example of a strong female protagonist that don't need no man to help her shove a butler into a freezer.
Classic Lara Croft will always be my Lara Croft. The LAU trilogy era of Lara from the mid-to-late 2000s will still be my favorite Lara. Bar none.

The next Tomb Raider game better have jiggle physics.
I just hope. I mean Embracer somehow still allows sexy women, as evident with Destroy All Humans 2 just two years ago (THQ game yes, but Embracer bought THQ and had also bought Eidos/CD), so here's hoping :optimistic:

I tried playing the third game in that shitty nu tomb raider trilogy. I barely played 10 mins of it before I just shut it off.

They should have recasted that chick. She worked in the 1st game because it was the most violent one and an origin story. She's just too dam whiny and frail sounding to be Lara croft in this.

Now that you mentioned that you've played it for 10 minutes, I felt like I was being too generous by playing it 20 minutes before giving up. It, along with the 2018 movie, made me HATE Tomb Raider and most of modern gaming. It made me question my life decisions and why I liked the franchise to begin with.

I'll always enjoy the original classic series (except of Chronicle and Angel of Darkness) but I've been losing all hope for the franchise all because of one of the darkest years of my life, especially for a Tomb Raider fan. When Squeenix bought Tomb Raider, they rebooted it by making it way less fun and shutting off all good things or anything that was important to the franchise. They violently stomped it to the ground until there was nothing.

Ill be honest. Ive always thought she was cool, but I had never actually played the franchise before the nu trilogy.
It's telling that they couldn't even make a character newbies would like.

Did you ever read the weird crossovers she had with Witchblade? She was like a major comic book character back in the 90s before rights issues screwed it up. Never read, I just remember how she was a big deal in comic book stores when I was younger.

Oh yeah, I remember those days. It's how Michael Turner got his start. One of the big series of Top Cow back in the day.

Shame, I would have liked to seen Yancy Butler and Angelina Jolee team up on screen back in the oughts...

I'd say it's not as strange as her brief cameo appearance in an August 10, 1998 issue of the Sunday comic strip FoxTrot

Yes, she was enormously popular during the late-90s through mid-to-late 2000s, yet her popularity was overshadowed afterwards when people moved on to stuff like Master Chief.

Those were the better Tomb Raider comics. The newer comics which is basically Lara Croft doing mundane shit like going shopping are just absolute dogshit

Something kinda completely related to Tomb Raider, but here's a Great Value brand Lara Croft in a Tomb Raider/Dino Crisis/Jurassic Park clone
Thanks @Flexo

🎶 WHY DO I GET THIS FEELING OF DEJA VU? 🎶

With all the talk of AI why don't they give us what we really want?

Lara Croft AMA!
If it's the one with Keeley Hawes' voice, then I'm down

You know, that is a good point. I mean by the time Embracer purchased Eidos and Crystal, I knew something fishy was going to happen, and back then I wasn't sure if Embracer was set to screw the Tomb Raider IP up the same way Squeenix did

Yeah I kind of have to agree on this one. Embracer is struggling hard after the Saudis back out of that huge deal so this might just be a cheap cash grab to try and stay afloat longer.
I'm mildly optimistic since more often than not embracer still has some standards instead of shitting cheap cashgrabs. sega has shown that you don't need anything fancy for ports and remakes, just do a solid job and see the money roll in for years.
