Do we really need a new reboot?

  • Yeah, I think it's about that time

  • No, the franchise is dead.

  • NO, A FOLLOWUP WHERE LARA PREACHES BOUT SLAY QUEEN DEFEATING EVIL ORANGE MAN

  • who cares, square enix killed another franchise

These designs are really bad, the left one in particular looks like a little kid playing dress up. Lara Croft is an old money british aristocrat, she should have no trouble getting dressed appropriately for a fancy party and I don't remember that being a problem in the old games.
She's just going to be a generic action girl from the "Smart girls don't like dresses" school of feminism, isn't she?

You wear sneakers to a gala?
Niggers, Soywhites, Beaners, and internet-rotted Chinks do. They unironically think going to graduations and galas in Jordan sneakers is "classy" and fashionable.

Now in regards to new-new Lara wearing converse low-tops, it's most likely the animators wanting to make her seem hip and relatable, as more and more young women wear sneakers under long dresses, alleging heels hurt their feet.

Nah I wouldn't go that far. Again, just trying to make her seem relatable. One of my friends got married and after the religious ceremony she plopped on some Adidas Ultraboosts under her wedding dress.
Gaudy, and her husband didn't like it, but she said she wasn't going to stand on heels for hours greeting his 5 thousand Italian relatives at the reception.

If she (Lara) starts mouthing off about the oppressed minorities and loathing her family name because 'rich old white people, amirite?', then yeah...

Forget the games, the first Angelina Jolie film even understood that old money aristocrat part of the character.
Mind you, that's not even a party dress, that's a casual dress.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=FfPrrBu70NMMind you, that's not even a party dress, that's a casual dress.
And the filmmakers and writer knew what they were doing

They're taking the 2010s trilogy and its bullshit 2018 movie as their big source with the power of "wahmen good" or "Hilary didn't lose the 2016 elections" feminism bullshit

If I have to guess the dress with sneakers would be for an action scene. Sometimes drafts like these don't use actual show colours and instead a samey palette to help compare different forms. But that's me being unreasonably optimistic.

I don't know if this has been posted here:
Amazon Tomb Raider - MCU writer.jpg
According to a report from Variety listing the top 10 up-and-coming screenwriters to watch, The Marvels’ Megan McDonnell has been busy working on The Tomb Raider show. Originally starting her writing career as a story editor on the acclaimed MCU series WandaVision, she remained with Marvel Studios and was eventually brought on as one of the first writers on Nia DaCosta’s The Marvels, and also acted as a consulting producer on Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.

The showrunner is the writer of the worst Indiana Jones movie and the writer is responisble for the worst movie of the year? Consider me intrigued! Now cast Tessa Thompson as the lead and it will be perfect...
And probably recast Alicia Vikander as 2018 Lara and Hayley Atwell as Netflix Lara for their bullshit "multiverse" shit. After all, Amazon plans it to be a "shared universe." Give me a fucking break

But someone like Lara, who is a lady by birth wouldn’t. We’ve seen her in heels before, and she only ditched them once when she had to switch to adventurer mode.

The designs are bad, and going by the tone of the designs, it most likely is a current year “acceptable woman” message.

I played one of the modern pre-reboot games (forget which one exactly) and she wore a very nice slinky black dress to a party, and of course her guns were carefully concealed under it. No reason she can't be formal and professional at the same time.

This is what happens when the media hires people who never grew up or understand Tomb Raider (or played any video game) but only looked up a few Wikipedia articles to "understand the lore."

Legend? Because that had a level where she wore a silk dress

Triple post as I've forgotten to post this last Sunday as that day marked the 24th anniversary of the PAL release of The Last Revelation (and the weekend prior was the 24th anniversary of the North American release).

I know, this is the only Tomb Raider news I can muster for now as this week has been a very slow week. Still, I'll showcase some cutscenes as upscaled by a fan in 4K.

Classic Lara Croft is an example of a strong female protagonist that don't need no man to help her shove a butler into a freezer.
