I wouldn't say they cared. Anniversary was the only game they did that was connected to the Core era and they gutted the best levels and added a bunch of goofy-ass lore and drama and destroyed the boss fights with QTE and too many cutscenes. Even on the commentary the director or lead designer or whatever the hell he's called brags about "improving" the original game while Toby Gard is sitting right next to him.
 
Melonie Mac is right, Crystal Dynamics' new Lara looks like a dude with a body of a cosplayer.
Also Aspyr seem to have hired a bunch of fans to work on the remaster. No wonder why CD was so triggered by it.

You can switch between "classic" and "remastered" graphics in real time, in the menu or in photo mode with a single button press. It is seamless.

What's not available are options like set screen resolution, vsync, anti aliasing etc. It just runs at <screen resolution> at <monitor refresh rate>. Apparently ultrawide also works perfectly fine, even the cutscene playback, so it's baffling they didn't include a menu.

You sure about that? Because Crystal did let Toby Gard man the writing for the Anniversary trilogy by adding lore that was necessary. Are there some that are too childish and retarded, yes, but those ideas didn't really come from Crystal, but from the original Tomb Raider creator/writer himself

I gotta ask, why is it so hard to make Lara sexy these days? And I'm honestly looking for an answer outside of the fact that we live in a clown woke society and, on top of that, corpos are good at collecting BlackRock checks, because Embracer allowed to have a sexy model in Destroy All Humans 2, and that's almost three years ago.

So I'm here to admit I'm retarded. I played the first Tomb Raider in the collection (Tomb Raider I.) I made it to the 2nd level. I saved at the beginning of the level and died near the end. I then replayed the level and got to the part where I died. I went to save and wound up at the beginning of the level. Why? It auto-defaults to load on the save screen except the first time you open this screen it auto-defaults to save because there are no load-able files.

I'll come back to this later I'm stupid. Also it took me a minute to learn I had to hold RT to grab onto ledges so I was jump sliding off the first ramp for a few minutes. Oddly you don't have to hold RT to grab the ledge of the ramp, it auto grabs if you hold forward. Whereas holding forward after jumping does not auto-grab.

And Toby Gard is a lefty faggot butthurt over sexy Lara. He had nothing to do with the second game, easily the best in the series, and was an employee of Crystal Dynamics, the niggers who ruined Lara and turned her into a B cup.

I do not celebrate his catalogue.

I ask the same fucking question every time: if all it takes is slapping a disclaimer in front of the movie/vidya/whatever, why hasn't Disney re-released Song of the South yet? It has nothing to do with "making sure the mistakes of the past aren't repeated", and everything to do with controlling the Narrative™️.

I would imagine that if there was a physical release planned day 1, they might have done better QA.

Then again, there are soydevs shipping empty blu ray discs and switch carts, so god knows these days. 🤮

My main issue with this disclaimer is that it does come off as condescending, like the devs fully expect the user to agree with what they consider as offensive and harmful (specifically the part "in the hopes that WE (as a society) may acknowledge its harmful impact and learn from it")

By comparison, the disclaimer at the start of the Metal Gear Solid Collection looks professional:

And apparently a mod for the PC version of the Tomb Raider Collection, which would remove said disclaimer, has been deleted in Nexusmods
