Part of me thinks this is an excuse to save face for how old the cast is and have an easy out to voice characters that are easier on the vocal chords

Wouldn't surprise me if this was an effort to trim some expenses from the long time VA salaries, which is likely an insane amount of the shows budget. Cut 20k for no longer active characters and instead just pay rando black guy $100 for an hours work a few times a season.

At this point most cartoons won't have any minorities anymore simply because there aren't enough black and Asian voice actors to play them. If that's what they want then alright I guess. I'm sure racists would enjoy not having any filthy niggers or chinks in their cartoons.

Calling Asian people yellow is racist, cause the saying comes from calling them cowards in WW2. And wasn't there an Asian character in an older episode that had white coloured skin?

Nah; the only solution is to have all Simpsons characters voiced by people with advanced liver disease that turns their skin yellow.

I imagine that they'll get maybe 2-3 "minority" actors to do a couple of voices, but they'll likely not make any minor characters black these days, which is how many of these characters that they're now demanding need to be recasted started out. They're not going to go out of their way to cast an individual minority actor for a character that has a line every fifth episode or so when they can just make them white (or yellow in this case) and use an existing versatile voice actor.

Nah most cartoons will weather out the storm. Most cartoons will continue to use the same crop of VAs regardless of the role they play because no one important will care in a few months once Twitters anger has moved on to another issue. Or Kevin Michael Richardson and Khary Payton can continue to play every black guy in cartoons forever.

Fun Fact: in the show Transformers Animated at one point Starscream creates a bunch of clones of himself who were only named in outside sources because if they had given the Starscream clones/Seekers official names they would have had to pay his voice actor Tom Kenny for five different roles.

Like some people have been saying this might be a convenient excuse to cut costs by hiring some newbie VAs to replace Azaria or Shearer. Far cheaper to pay some literately who scale wages than a big name VA who commands a high price. Maybe Frylocks VA can take over the roles dude is desperate for money these days.

Actually the "yellow Asian" thing comes from 18th century German scientist Johann Friedrich Blumenbach who typified humans into 5 distinct races and assigned each a color often based on the color of their skin. But yeah, they'd definitely call his work racist as fuck these days.

Maybe the Voice Actors union changed its rules since then or the pay rates were different for VAs at the time. Back in the 80s it might have cost less to have Frank Welker voice a quarter of your cast rather than today where you have to shill out more money per voice and character.

Disney/Fox will keep Azaria and Shearer for their main roles, but if they have to pay them for voicing minor roles it might be in their best interest to get some young hungry VA from the internet or anime dubbing who will work for bottom of the barrel wages to get their name out their instead of paying the Simpsons VAs massive salaries. Last I heard, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think each VA makes 300 grand an episode. If they cut the number of characters they voice then Fox/Disney could force them to accept lower wages when the next pay depute comes along saying they're not voicing as many characters as before and they can't demand the money they previously earned thanks to union bylaws.
